Well being honest, this is a game I am not looking forward to for reasons I have posted here. On Sunday, Chelsea take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge and we couldn't be further from the side that beat Arsenal at the Emirates at the beginning of the season.
Our home form is a nightmare, we have a manager who has taken us backwards and with only winning two games out of SEVEN at Stamford Bridge (and those were against FC Norsjaelland and Aston Villa) under Benitez, a draw is the best we can hope for at the moment.
So Chelsea fans, who do you think should start the game for Rafa "The Gaffer" this weekend and who will be ready on to come on from the bench after it's around 10-20 minutes too late?
For me and our defending, it's back to basics. After being rested against Southampton, Branislav Ivanovic needs to come back into the side. John Terry also needs to come in and restore some organisation. Before anyone questions that view, I would like to point out that if you ARE fit enough to be named on the bench, it's my view that you are fit enough to start.
So, the back four for me should be as follows - Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (C) and Cole.
In Midfield we need David Luiz playing in there purely for his passing ability and use of the ball. It pains me to say it but Frank Lampard needs to take a rest in this one ready to come on (late under Rafa) to change things and Ramires gets the nod next to Luiz.
There needs to be an change to our attacking three in behind in the striker and that's Marko Marin coming in for Oscar. Oscar isn't a wide player and is wasted out there. Marin is a natural wide player and in place of Victor Moses should be someone like-for-like and that's Marin.
Up top, I would start with Torres and put Demba Ba on the bench as he has been rested in the last two games.
So to confirm, MY Chelsea starting eleven is as follows:
Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (C), Cole, Luiz, Ramires, Hazard, Mata, Marin and Torres.
What do you people think? Do you agree with me or have a different opinion?

I miss Moses. He would've been perfect for the game. I completly agree with you except for the fact that Torres should start instead of Ba. The name alone will scare the gooner's defence bringing back the Drogba nightmares. Lol... We really need to win this one. #KTBFFH...
ReplyDeleteAs an Arsenal supporter, I'm surprised anyone would be nervous at all about playing us. We're consistently inconsistent and since we won our last game, well, it's your turn. (No, I wouldn't want Benitez as coach but maybe Roman will humble himself enough to let Mourinho come back?)
ReplyDeleteI prefer Ba in place of Torres and Azpilicueta in place of Ivanovich. My squad will be:
ReplyDeleteCech; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Luiz, Ramires, Mata; Hazard, Marin, Ba.
Torres is out of this game, if you want chelsea too win the game
ReplyDeleteOk as a chelsea fan 101% benitez needs to go never liked him or will ever like him even.if he wins the premier league this season . My team for sunday , iva, cahill, terry, cole , luiz, lamps, hazard, mata, ramires, torres ( he better not flop)
ReplyDeleteNo Torres please. Don't want a striker that loses the ball some 10 times in a half & misses a goal from 5 yards, never wins a ball aerially.
ReplyDeletePutting a completely new defence combination might be a threat as well. I'd rather go with Azpi-Ivan-Cahill-Cole and Terry on bench.
I agree with the attacking 3. Marin is a wide specialist. Dribbles & cuts very well. Mata in the center works for us.
What say blues?
