As confirmed on the Official Chelsea Website, Yossi Benayoun has returned to the club after his loan spell with West Ham expired today. I just wonder with Rafa Benitez in charge, if Yossi has a serious part to play now with Chelsea?
Benayoun featured under Benitez at Liverpool and he knows the player inside out so you would now expect him to be involved.
With talks of Frank Lampard's future, injury to Oriol Romeu and Mikel away for the African Cup of Nations, I just wonder if we could see Benayoun feature as Rafa rotates his players as part of the supporting three behind the striker, between now and the end of the season?
At the beginning of the season it looked as though Mata, Hazard and Oscar had those positions all nailed down but then Rafa came in and Victor Moses has played for the most part under the new man in charge. With Marko Marin to consider and now Benayoun, we have six players for those three positions and more importantly, cover in the squad.
I predict that Benayoun will have a part to play under Rafa this season and it could be as early as this weekend against Southampton.
What do you people think about Benayoun's return to the club and do YOU think he has a part to play at Chelsea under Benitez?
