After weeks of speculation, the transfer window is almost upon us and Rafa Benitez has made it clear that he has been looking at three positions within the squad he wants to strengthen.
I am not 100% convinced Chelsea will go all out to splash £48m on Falcao in this window as the player himself has given a hint that he wants to stay in Madrid for the remainder of the season.
With Daniel Sturridge almost certain to move to Liverpool, a striker is a must for Benitez to give the improving Fernando Torres a run for his money.
Chelsea have been linked with Falcao, Gomis, Walcott and David Villa and it will be interesting to see if one of the three others than Falcao will come to the Bridge.
I can see Chelsea buying two players in the window with the second obvious area to improve being a defensive midfielder. David Luiz has made a case for playing there in recent weeks but with Oriol Romeu out for the season and Mikel off the African Cup of Nations, we still need cover in that area (especially after it seems like Frank Lampard has been told he can leave!).
There isn't that many midfielders that would be available for the right price in January but one player that has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for the past two seasons is Marouane Fellaini of Everton.
The question is, will Roman splash the cash and would the managers of these players linked with Chelsea, be happy to allow them to leave in this window? Only time will tell.
Let's also not forget that we have Yossi Benayoun returning to Chelsea next week after a spell with West Ham and we all know how Rafa Benitez rated him at the dippers!
For now, I would love to know YOUR opinion on this. Who do YOU think Chelsea need to sign in the window to add to our squad?

Lampard and Coles contract for starters! Then buy David Villa on an 18 month contract and also sign Mats Hummels as JT is going to struggle to play again and you need 3 CB and I don't feel Cahill is a world class CB and Hummels is! I would also buy Fellaini so that we have 3 world class CM in Lamps Fellaini and Luiz as I don't feel that Mikel is good enough for us maybe he is for Arsenal or Spurs but we are better than them!
ReplyDeleteyou need nobody to announce to you that mikel is world class
DeleteMikel isn't amazing face the facts he always ops for the easy option when passing and always slows the game down. If he could sort these out fine. Also HE ISN'T HERE FOR POTENTIALLY 3 WEEKS IN JAN. We Need Moutinho!!!!!! and not fellaini the only reason there is so much hype this season is he is playing as a AM.
ReplyDeleteIs there anybody avaiable??? And does a January signing ever really make a impact? I can't get excited about walcot and fellaini both over rated! Villa is classy but is he past his best? Who ever we buy it will cost a fortune to get them in jan and just add presure on the player to be an instant success!
ReplyDeleteWe need to keep Frank at all costs, and Ashley, there is still no one better.
ReplyDeletePato gets injured so much he's not worth it!!!!! Hes spent more time injured then on the pitch. Higuain for me if falcao can't be got in Jan.
ReplyDeletemikel, world class?..lol! they say he's th best passer of th ball, bt hw many assists has he given since he joind chelsea.. Luiz, a central defender hv already had a couple of assists playin dm.. excpt we want to pack th bus dats wen u'll see th best of mikel..
ReplyDeleteKeeping Lamps and cole is first thing to do, then buy falcao or fellaini
ReplyDeleteIts not always an accurate judgement to look at a player and his assists and how risky his passes are, Mikel is a terrific player, one who has proved to be starting 11 material for any manager who arrived at the bridge, he is African and he will play AFCON, just like the Euros, be fair.
