Unfortunately I have to bring you yet more bad news in what has been a horrendous November for Chelsea Football Club. Before I go into the story, I must stress that John Obi is NOT being punished for making a claim against Mark Clattenburg, this is a separate incident.
It is understood that after the controversial United game Mikel stormed into the referee's dressing room and verbally abused the officials. This is the statement that the FA released on their official website;
Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel has been charged by The FA for an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to his side’s game against Manchester United on 28 October 2012.
It is alleged that in or around the Match Officials’ changing room at the end of the fixture, Mikel used threatening and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour.
The player has until Friday 30 November 2012 to respond to the charge.

Although Mikel is not denying the charge, he will be responding to the FA with 'mitigating factors' in order to reduce his punishment. The mitigating factors will more than likely include the initial anger he would have inevitably felt after being informed that he was racially abused (which has now been dismissed as a misunderstanding).
So Mikel will more than likely be hit with a fine and possibly a multiple match ban to boot in the near future.

How come they never charged him all along until now?
ReplyDeleteHow come, he gets charged and clattenberg is cleared. the fa now wants Chelsea to apologise and give him compensation. wheres Terry's apology and compensation? instead he gets given a second trail untill found guilty and now the fa block drogba's loan move back to the bridge.I'm sure Henry's, Donovan's and keanes loans back to their respective clubs were all out of the transfer window.
ReplyDeletedoes any one else feel.the fa wants to screen us.
