Chelsea have a couple of disappointing results lately and once again the pressure is heaped on RDM and the players and surprise, surprise, Pep Guardiola's name is being linked to the Chelsea job.
Chelsea have had to come out and deny that any approach or contact has been made with him after "reports" appeared yesterday quoting Guardiola as stating that the Chelsea job would be a "dream" for him and it's the job he wants for when his self imposed sabbatical ends at the end of the season.
Now, for me this once again shows the lack of respect for Roberto Di Matteo and for what he has achieved here at Chelsea in a little under a year as Manager. These comments and reports disrespectful to him and is yet another example of our press and media trying to unsettle the club.
What has Di Matteo done wrong so far as Chelsea's manager? When has he ever let us down?
Let's face it and it's been said time and time again, he took over the side when we had little chance of finishing in the top four but guided us to two cup wins including the holy grail.
This season, he has implemented players and a playing style that has taken the league by storm. OK, we have had two disappointing results at home to United but we are all aware of why we lost that game and away last Saturday at Swansea but is that reason to start talking of a replacement?
Chelsea have a massive game tomorrow night at home to Shakhtar and a game we have to win. I believe we have it in us at the Bridge to do so and to put any doubts about us qualifying for the next round to bed.
Maybe then, RDM will be allowed to get on with the fantastic job he has started here but I can't see that happening. Pep Guardiola is always going to be linked with Chelsea because if reports are to be believed, Roman tried to get him to come to Stamford Bridge and to not have a years sabbatical and he approach was turned down.
I have my doubts about Guardiola personally and that's purely and simply because we have only seen what he has achieved at Barcelona and nowhere else!. Everything was put in place right through the club for years from the academy upwards and he even had a spell looking after the youngsters and reserve sides.
He was able to develop those players in the "Barcelona mould" and when he took over, brought some of those players into the first team with him.
He isn't on the same level as Jose Mourinho in my book because he has only ever been a one club man. Mourinho, as we have all seen, has been there and done it in Portugal, England, Italy and now Spain and no one doubts his credentials as one of the best managers in the world.
With Guardiola it's totally different. Who is to say he will be a success anywhere else? Guardiola IS Barcelona through and through just like RDM IS Chelsea through and through.
As for RDM, he gets better and better as time goes on. He had his jobs lower down the leagues and had a baptism of fire with West Brom in the Premier League. He learnt from those lessons and has used that experience to develop himself as a manager and is the man we see before us today.
I really believe that the press and media are being nothing but disrespectful to OUR MANAGER and it's out of order. The thing is, as usual, RDM will continue to work hard every day bring success to Chelsea this season.
So far, I can't fault him for anything and find it hard to believe that these people and some Chelsea fans do!
Carefree & KTBFFH!
