I am shell-shocked by this decision, I have to say i am SO frustrated with our clubs knee jerk decisions!
Absolutely ridiculous in my mind, the man has lead us to Champions League glory and the FA cup in a few short months, plus we are only a few point off of the top of the league! Every team hits a bad patch of form, but to sack a manager because of it? Ludicrous.
Every single year without fail we have our autumn/winter slump, Di Matteo has been punished because of this.
Why isn't he being given a chance to sort this out? HE HAS EARNED THAT RIGHT.
WE NEED TO REALISE THAT WE ARE IN TRANSITION!
Unfortunately at our club patience is a severely underused trait when it comes to managers, but at the same time overused when it comes to players.
The club released the following official statement;
Chelsea Football Club has parted company this morning with manager Roberto Di Matteo. The team's recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season. The club faces a difficult task ahead in qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League as well as maintaining a strong challenge for the top of the Premier League while competing in three other cup competitions. Our aim is to remain as competitive as possible and challenge strongly on all fronts... The owner and the board would like to thank Roberto for all he has done for the club since taking over in March. Roberto helped guide us to an historic Champions League victory and a seventh FA Cup. We will never forget the huge contribution he has made to this club's history and he will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge... The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first team manager.(Source)
Before we speculate on his replacement, I would just like to say a huge thankyou to Roberto for what he done for Chelsea! He brought us home the Champions League and the FA Cup, he gave us all cherished memories and I am truly sad to see him go.
The question becomes, who will be the next Chelsea manager?
Pep Guardiola?
Harry Redknapp?
Rafa Benitez?
Avram Grant?
Leave your thoughts Chelsea fans.
Is it a good decision?
Or are we making ourselves look incredibly foolish once more?

un frickin believeable. how the @$&# do you give avb until january and then sack rdm in october. the man won you a champions league mr abramivich!!!! i hate to rant like this, but no team has ever defended a CL crown. Good luck mr. abramovich, but if you use a different manager every 8 mos watch chelsea wind up in tge @$#&in Championship instead of the champions league lol.
ReplyDelete1. OK. This is officially ansurd. Can the FA do anything about an owner that is mentally unstable? Can they declare him unfit to be an EPL owner... after all, they are able to do that before a person makes a large investment in a club. Why not after if they turn out to be crazy?
ReplyDelete2. What coach in their right mind would come to Chelsea?
Totally ridiculous. Lost respect and loyalty to Chelsea. If he makes benitez the manager I will stop watching all together.
