Are Chelsea as bad as some people are making out?

Chelsea lost to West Brom yesterday to make it four games without a win in the Premier League and judging by some comments on here, around the web, on other blogs and on Facebook and Twitter you would think that Chelsea are in dire circumstances and in some sort of a crisis.

The funny thing is, with just taking two points from a possible twelve, we still sit just four points off the top of the Premier League. If anything it makes you realise just how good we can be if we get it together.

I do understand the fans frustrations at the result yesterday after disappointing results against United, Swansea and Liverpool but we need to sit back and take a look at the bigger picture to get some perspective on things and to not be THAT person jumping on the negative bandwagon.

What I am trying to say here is look at those four games. It's only really been the Swansea game that was the worst out of all of them because of the lack of chances the team created.

I know our defence has been a constant problem and more on that later but in saying that, against United we all know why we lost, against Liverpool we had only ourselves to blame for not taking our chances and to a degree once again, if we had taken our chances yesterday it would be a different story.

I am trying to be open minded after a night of reflection and I encourage you all to do the same. If Chelsea were not creating chances at all in games then there WOULD be a real problem.

Forget who is up front for the moment or in the attacking third as it hasn't just been one person of late. Think of the Juan Mata miss against Liverpool late on in the first half, think of the chances missed yesterday by Danny Sturridge. The last one drilled across goal is the perfect example.

As we all know Fernando Torres against Liverpool was denied by Brad Jones in the Liverpool goal twice from close range and you have to say that they were good saves rather than chances missed. Sturridge had two chances yesterday that forced the keeper into good reflex saves so you have to look at those and admit that on another day, we could have scored if it wasn't for the keeper.

We may not be playing well in ALL areas of the pitch as we know, but I am encouraged by the fact that we ARE still forcing goalkeepers into making good saves and creating chances.

If Chelsea were not doing that, then for me, we would be in the sort of situation people are making us out to be at the moment.
