Chelsea take on Shakhtar Donetsk tonight at the Donbass Arena and let's face it with the way they have been performing at home, this could be a potential banana skin. However, Chelsea are in fine form heading into this one and we take on the Ukranian side full of confidence.
We are the European Champions and teams have more of an incentive to do well against us and they will look to come at us and make life as difficult as possible. We have to ensure we are professional enough to do a job tonight as we can't afford to drop points.
Both of us have four points with the return leg at Stamford Bridge to follow. Meanwhile, Juventus take on FC Nordsjaelland twice and without being disrespectful to them, expect Juventus to pick up six points so this is vitally important that we do not lose the game.
Like I said before and just because I like saying it, We are European Champions looking to defend the title in it's current format for the first time ever and I expect Roberto Di Matteo to send out the team on that pitch to get the job done and to attack our opposition.
Expect John Terry to come back into the side in the place of Gary Cahill as the only change from the side that beat Tottenham on Saturday.
Alot is being made of the Brazilian stars that Shakhtar have to call upon tonight but to be honest I don't care for them at all. Right now, Chelsea's attacking three are taking teams apart and I expect them to do the same tonight.
Ideally, I would like Chelsea to go two or three up tonight with time to make changes and to see the likes of Cesar Zpilicueta, Romeu and Victor Moses to get a run out. Let's wait and see if we can.
So, like many of you, I will be sitting watching as the Champions of Europe take the next step in the Champions League as we look to lay down a marker in the group and in the competition as a whole.
I predict Chelsea will win this one with ease and predict Fernando Torres to score within 90 minutes.
Come on Chelsea!

What's wrong with marko marin???
ReplyDeleteShaktar demolished a sluggish Chelsea side that was determined to allow the host to dominate. A yard slower throughout the game coupled with slack marking in the box and wayward passing upfront in the final third the blues never looked likely victors. There was no urgency in defence or attack. Unable to hold possession or acurrately find a team mate at critical moments, Torres was a liability throughout, making the blues appear to be playing with 10 men. Midway in the firsthalf and trailing a goal down the blue players' body language said it all: they had given up. The creativity was gone and players dallied on possession devoid of ideas. And they were duly punished by a clinical Shaktar's side.
ReplyDeleteOf all things, Chelsea have had to face a dominant Ferguson's team this Sunday to recover from this shock defeat. Good luck!
Chelsea need another striker cos torres is a dead horse.
