Chelsea travel to the Ukraine tomorrow to take on Shakhtar Donetsk and it's a chance for us to take another three important points in the group and put pressure on Juventus and the Ukrainian side.
If Chelsea can win tomorrow and the return leg at Stamford Bridge, we would sit on 10 points with two group games to play and would be certain of going through to the knockout stages.
Ahead of the game tomorrow, Shakhtar are level on points with Chelsea but sit behind us in the group on goal difference. If we can beat them twice, it would put them out of contention to qualify.
Juventus have drawn both games in the group stages so far but with two games in a row against Nordsjaelland coming up, you would expect them to pick up six points out of six.
Chelsea need to do a professional job tomorrow and although a draw isn't a bad result, we have to take this group by the scruff of the neck and dominate.
So with this in mind, my question to you the Chelsea fans around the world is:
John Terry who is suspended for three more league games is available for selection and bearing in mind we need to keep him match-fit, I can see him starting tomorrow.
We also have Frank Lampard & Danny Sturridge who both came on at Spurs as options through the midfield and attack with the likes of Victor Moses and Marko Marin also looking for a start.
Oriol Romeu is another player to consider along with Cesar "Dave" Azpilicueta.
The thing is, I am not so sure that RDM will want to make too many changes to the side even with Manchester United coming up as we would have three full days to recover ahead of United on Sunday.
However, I can see maybe RDM changing three positions tomorrow to keep things fresh and my starting eleven is as follows:
Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Lampard, Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Torres.
What do you people think?
Carefree & KTBFFH.

Who should start for Chelsea? Now following on from our impressive performance against Tottenham on Saturday, Roberto Di Matteo has plenty of options available to make changes to the side that started at the weekend if he wants to.

I think John Terry will certainly start. However, the manager may give Luiz a rest and start Cahill alongside Terry in the centre of defense. In defensive midfield, RDM may want to finally give Mikel a rest, so he may be tempted to try Romeu/Ramires and Lampard. However, the manager's belief in Mikel is unwavering, and he may just start him again after all. Mata, Hazard and Oscar are almost certain to start any serious match this season and I see them all starting tomorrow. Torres will most definitely start once again as the sole striker.
ReplyDeleteWhat I will keenly watch for are the substitutions. If all players in the pitch remain fit, I think Sturridge, Victor Moses and Romeu/Ramires/Mikel (depending on who doesn't start) will be introduced at some point.
I wouldnt wanna change too much, terry definatly maybe cesar at rb, romeu in place of mikel lampard and marin in for hazard and oscar and sturridge up top. So its cech, cesar, terry, cahill, berty, romeu, ramires. Mata lampard marin as the 3 and sturridge, but it wont happen
ReplyDeleteI would used CECH, AZPI, TERRY, CAHILL, BERT, ROMEO, LAMPS, MOSES, MATA, MARIN, TORRES/DANIEL. SOME PLAYERS NEED REST LIKE TORRES, MIKEL N COLE.
ReplyDeletei really would like to see Sturridge start this one, but i just know deep down torres will start. Its like he has some kind of hold on Di Mateo which makes him untouchable. For god's sake Di Mateo you have the guts to bench Lamps, a legend, why not also the misfiring Torres
