We all love watching the Blues and many of us like a little gamble on the games. Then there are all the other games featuring those teams we’d really rather not mention, but we have to watch - to see how they’re faring and maybe to have a wager there, too. I’m sure you know which teams I’m talking about.
Then there are all the European games, which are great to watch even if some of us went a little greyer and lost a few more hairs after last year’s Champions League exploits! But it was all worth it in the end of course.
Next summer is an odd number year, so there are no international competitions, but Brazil and the World Cup is just around the corner, then we’ll all be off to France whether in person or in spirit for Euro 2016 with any luck and on it goes…
Now this may all be the spice of life for us, and these days there are an ever increasing number of wives and girlfriends turning up at the Bridge and the overseas trips (though not that many driving north on the M6 I seem to notice!). But perplexingly, a large number of “WAGS” still don’t quite seem to get it and would prefer to sit and watch Eastenders, Coronation Street or some other such nonsense when the big games are on. Now if you have multi-room satellite TV, you’re laughing, but for those us that don’t – this can be a bit of a tricky situation to say the least!
One company that seems to have acknowledged this common family dilemma is Jackpotjoy – the website of “Queen” Babs Windsor fame that does all kinds of online bingo, virtual slot machines and instant win games.
Jackpotjoy has now launched a game that gives our fairer halves no room for further complaint! Called “Football widows” the online instant win game gives her indoors the chance to win a pile of cash by virtually throwing all your soccer mad gear out of the window. She chooses which way “you” dive to try and save your stuff an if you miss, she doubles her money up to 64-fold if she keeps getting it right – but she can quit at any time.
To me – this seems the perfect encouragement to overcome those minor disagreements like which is more important; Chels versus Barca in the Champions League or who’ll be next to be booted out of the Big Brother house; there are no more excuses!
