Gary Cahill in my eyes is now pushing for a regular first team start at Chelsea ahead of David Luiz and that's nothing against Luiz, but because of the progress I feel Cahill has made at the club since he came here.
Cahill has always been a good defender but his development here as gone almost un-noticed. Cahill strikes me as one of the old school centre halves that lives for a clean sheet week in, week out. You see his delight during games when a save is made or a block tackle and you see his disappointment when we concede a single goal.
I believe Cahill could become our Captain in years to come and although he hasn't come through the ranks at the club like John Terry, he could have the same influence here eventually.
If Chelsea can get Cahill and Terry fit and playing together, we could end up with the same partnership at the back as we had with JT and Carvalho back in the day. A return to having the best defensive record could be on the cards once more.
Both are of the same mould and would throw everything at the ball to stop the opposition and that is very rare these days.
As you can tell, I personally really rate Cahill and for me, he should now be selected to start week in, week out no matter who is playing next to him but what do you people think?
Do you agree that Cahill should be starting these days?

Agree with you entirely mate I too am a big gary cahill fan what an unbelievable signing he has turned out to be. I've been asking myself the same question almost since he joined us and after seeing luiz's performance against atletico madrid I have finally determined him to be starting XI material. Incredibly consistent player and seems like a really nice fella to have in the changing room, growing a large amount of respect for him seems to be a quite passionate player I agree with you about how you can see the delight on his face whenever petr makes a save! Quality.
