In giving his press conference ahead of the game with City tomorrow, Roberto Di Matteo was quick to play down the influence of the new signings in addition to some of our players leaving and the concept of radical change to the way we play our football.
He said:
“Certainly, with the influence of the new players, it will be a bit different because they have different characteristics and abilities to the other players.
But I know we need to win games as well, so I don’t think you can expect a completely different Chelsea overnight.
The majority of the team are still here and, with those players, the club have been very successful already. So don’t expect radical changes.”
Sorry Robbie, but I'm not buying it at all!. With the signings of Hazard, Marin and Oscar all fighting for places with Juan Mata, I can only see Chelsea playing one style of football.
Surely there cannot be a rigid shape to our team WITH the ball. OK, when we do not have possession we will expect people to get back into their positions in line with our defensive shape but with the ball, I expect Chelsea to play with flair and freedom for our front four to move around creating space and opportunities.
I just really hope that it's not in a 4-3-3 formation because it doesn't work.
Maybe it will take us a couple of months for the newbies to really settle into the league and for the team to gel together but when we do, expect Chelsea to be playing a totally different style of football we have been used to.
KTBFFH!
I expect you to answer this. Did you ever play football in your life, even if it's just at amateur level?
ReplyDeleteLet him answer my brother. You are not the coach and you didnt sign or sell players for him neither are you agent so stop countering him because you are not in his mind neither are you his assistant nor special advicer. RDM am with you all the way.
ReplyDeleteYes brother. RDM has a life time of footballing experience on and off the pitch. He knows the ins ands out about the beautiful game. Take Guardiola for example. Back in 2009 we played Barca,2nd leg at home and dominated the match because we were the better gelled team. Guardiola was just putting his team together and it was only Iniesta's long range effort that sent them through. Guardiola did admit that his team wasn't unified then. RDM knows the same thing now.
