This afternoon will be Chelsea's toughest test so far this season as Newcastle come to Stamford Bridge. This is no easy game at all and by far from a "home banker" against Alan Pardew's side. Chelsea need to be at their best in ALL area's of the pitch today to get three points but will have to work hard to earn it.
For some, it means three games in the space of six days and that could force Di Matteo's team selection. We know that John Terry is out with a neck injury so David Luiz should come straight back into the side and apart from Marko Marin, Di Matteo has a full squad to choose from.
Could we see Oscar handed a start? Will Raul Meireles come into the side in place of Frank Lampard and will Danny Sturridge be given the start of Fernando Torres? It will be interesting to see.
Chelsea need to be solid at the back to cope with Demba Ba and Cisse as I expect both of them to start. Ben Arfa and Cabeye in midfield will look to pull the strings and get the ball into these two as much as possible.
Cahill and Luiz need to ensure they come out on top in all battles against Newcastle's front men and with that hopefully Chelsea can get their foot on the ball, moving it forward quickly into the attacking midfield to create and craft as they have been doing so far this season.
I would like to see more of the killer ball released early to our striker. Whether that's Torres or Sturridge today, both of them have the pace and ability to get in behind any defence in the Premier League.
This is a difficult game to call this afternoon. Of course I am biased and believe that we are a very different proposition now to what we were last season but you cannot underestimate Newcastle.
A side that look solid, work hard for each other and the manager, and have two lads up top that can win you games on their own Chelsea need be well aware of the threat they pose.
Expect a tight game to begin with and hopefully a moment of magic wins it for us.
Come on Chelsea, I asked you to make a statement the other day but this is even bigger. Get out there and give us all the performance we want and another three points!.
KTBFFH!
