Finally, AVB has admitted that it was HIS approach to the project he was given at Chelsea that failed. He said:
"There are changes which have to be done, but I think that I won't promote that change as aggressively as I did at Chelsea.
When things were going along smoothly, everybody is happy and you are able to progress it.
When you are faced with a setback, it's the ability to bounce back from that setback that will keep you right on track.
Chelsea had three negative results in a row last year, which had a tremendous impact, and when we wanted to correct things, we were always putting the fire out and never establishing what we were before.
I think it's best to go for a progressional change. We have to respect what has been built here by Harry and hopefully I can do exactly that."
All we have ever heard or read about is the players at Chelsea, forcing the manager out blah, blah, blah!. Now for the first time, we actually hear it from the horses mouth so to speak.
The fact that he has spoken of "aggressive" change, indicates to me that he went into the job with all guns blazing and after the initial honeymoon period was over, he found that he had more or less made a rod for his own back.
I am sick of people giving me stick about our players controlling what happens at Chelsea which is the biggest load of rubbish I have heard.
Maybe now the doubters after reading what the man has said himself, will realise that it was AVB's approach from day one that cost him the job!.
KTBFFH!
