I have to say I really thought we played well. Considering Newcastle will be up there challenging for the top four positions this season, Chelsea put in a great performance and were worthy winners.
I think if you are a Newcastle fan, you would agree that you really missed Tiote in midfield and the new boy Anita struggled to bridge the gap.
In saying that, Chelsea's triangle of Torres, Mata and Hazard looks to get better game after game with all three having an impact so far this season.
Eden Hazard has been a revelation so far, he has slotted into our side as if he has been here for years and the understanding he has with Torres and Mata already looks really, really exciting.
Torres was outstanding also. His work rate again was immense, tracking back and challenging to win the ball back, linking with up with the midfield and of course scoring a cracker of a goal. A couple of flicks during the game shows us all he feels confident and is enjoying his football which is good to see. He was unlucky to get booked as Coloccini caught him without question.
I thought that Ryan Bertrand again had a good game down the left. His interchange with Ashley Cole provides us with good width and cover down that side.
I thought our back four looked solid enough. There were a couple of moments late on as Newcastle pressed forward that we could have done better with. A free header from 8 yards and a great Cech save from Demba Ba ensured we kept an important clean sheet.
For me though watching the game again, Mikel and Meireles take the plaudits for Saturday's performance and result. Both were outstanding and played as well as each other.
Both set the tone for the way we attacked Newcastle, winning the ball and releasing it forward quickly. Both were solid and hassled Newcastle's midfield all game with Mikel as usual providing important protection to our back four.
However Raul Meireles was man of the match for me purely because of his use of the ball. Quick give and go's, long balls, short balls and quick incisive passing was a feature of Meireles' game on Saturday and just what I had been asking for.
It's all well and good having these attacking players but they need to be given the ball quickly in behind the midfield to attack defenders and Meireles gave us exactly that. Hat's off to him, it was his best game in a Chelsea shirt so far.
Overall, Chelsea deserved the result with a good performance. Newcastle only showed us glimpses of what they are capable of even though they had their chances.
Three wins from three as we head over to Monaco.
KTBFFH!

Now you also see what I often say; Lampard was off & a more "disciplined" player did well & most Importantly Mikel was brilliant! Which confirms the fact that Lampard's disposition to go & STAY forward weakens the partnership of the defensive duo who ought to be working as a close unit, thus exposing Mikel!
