It seems hard to believe now, but just a few short months ago Chelsea looked like a club in hopeless disarray. Languishing well short of the Champions League qualifying places, Andre Villas Boas had been sacked after less than a season in charge; club captain John Terry was facing a criminal charge for racial abuse and fifty million pound star striker Fernando Torres was looking like one of the biggest flop signings in football history. Now, as a new season approaches, the mood at Chelsea could scarcely be more different, as the club basks in the afterglow of a Champions League and FA Cup double, the Terry affair is largely consigned to the past and everyone at the club appears to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
What this means is that Chelsea fans are looking forward to the start of the new season a hell of a lot more than they would have been a few months back, and those who like to have a pre-season gamble on the prospects of Premier League teams at sports betting and online casino sites are a lot more prepared to bet on Chelsea doing well than they might have been before. Most of those who bet on these things consider that it was temporary manager Roberto Di Matteo who was responsible for knitting the squad together to enable them to achieve what they did at the end of last season, and this led to him being given the job permanently; but can he continue this success into the new season?
The money has been made available to strengthen the Chelsea squad, and they succeeded in snatching the hotly tipped Eden Hazard from under the noses of arch-rivals Manchester United. However, with the departure of striker Didier Drogba to China, the key to Chelsea’s success this season is likely to lie with Fernando Torres, and Matteo’s ability to get the best out of him.

KTBFFH!
When Diedier Drogba headed the equialiser and slotted home the last penalty in the EUFA Champions League he set the bar so high for next generation of Chelsea players that any diehard Chelsea fan can see the hunger in Torres, Ivanovich, Cech, Lampard, Terry, Betrand the list goes on. These guys looks like they are afraid in a good way of bringing the bar down and am very excited for the future of our Champions of Europe.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion,Torres is on form and is ready to fire. Last week's friendly against Puerto Rico,He was on target with his attempts and one goal not allowed due to an offside call. Now when we look at the last two club games,City and Wigan..Torres didn't get much service. The only service he gets is the way Drogba gets fed, with his back to the game and then power his way past defenders. What Torres need is through balls like we saw in the Euros. I hope Robbie can do something about this.
ReplyDeleteRobbie is the man and has shown it to us in the past! I dont know how much managerial skills he acquires but definitely has got blue blood. And this seemed to work for us last season so lets hope we do it again and make history!
