With plenty of new additions at Chelsea and not forgetting Yossi Benayoun returning to the fold from his loan at Arsenal, there is plenty of players fighting for the midfield places at Chelsea this season and one name has popped up a few times this summer being linked with a move and that is Raul Meireles.
Some people think he is over rated or on the flip side under rated, but it's important to remember that he play a key role in our successes last season working hard for the team after his obvious disappointment of AVB being sacked.
Now being an AVB signing, I have wondered if RDM would give him as much game time this season with someone such as Michael Essien also now returning to the squad fully fit and raring to go?
As I said, rumours surfaced during the summer that he could move away from Chelsea with Italy looking like a likely destination but I wouldn't rule out a bid from AVB in North London.
This morning though, it seems that Napoli have taken a serious interest in Meireles and if reports are to be believed, a fee of around £8m could tempt Chelsea into selling.
For me, with the players we have signed it's now obvious we need four midfielders to cover the holding midfield two in front of the back four in our 4-2-3-1 formation. Those four should be: Lampard, Mikel, Romeu and Essien. So it's a thank you but goodbye from me!
So what do you think about Meireles now? Someone we can do with or someone we can do without?
KTBFFH!

He has been a great service to the squad, and helped achieve the unimaginable. That being said, our MF is getting younger, and this leaves no room for Raul. Best wishes.
ReplyDelete100% bin this guy i think hes the worst player we hav signed in years barr malouda!!! Everytime he gets the bsll he gives it away he has done nothing apart from score a few goals but anyone can do that MERELEIS OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do a deal with napoli swap him for cavani plus cash !! 25m plus this DONKEY
ReplyDeleteRaul to Napoli just sounds like good business right now, considering we may just need to lossen up money for a RB (azpilicueta). The midfield is awfully crowded right now and its gonna be hard to shop malouda so Raul it is. I like the player but he will probably play little to no part in an attacking side we are trying to create. Never will forget that goal against Benfica, it really put us on our way to the CL Final.
ReplyDeleteI think its time Meireles is moved on. Grateful 4 the job well done in our champions league winning season.
ReplyDeleteWe also need 2 move either Malouda or Benayoun on & give someone like Kakuta an opportunity. We've got a lot of depth in the attacking midfield dept.
ReplyDeleteOne goal I won't forget, that out-swinging blaster of a shot against Benfica. That really made me love him but unfortunately the mid is crowded and it seems like he is leaving. Mr poster,do you play Fifa12? Lol! Because I also believe in only having four holding mids. In my career mode,Essien developed into a playmaker! How odd is that!!
ReplyDeleteWhile i think raul has play his part at chelsea so its time to move to another team, bye raul
ReplyDeleteAvB signed raul not because he is good player to tussle position with the likes of mikel, ramires, orio, lampard, even josh. Rather, he was brought to stamford B because modric deal was futal and he was just signed for the sake of signing and tribalism at the nick of time. If i am Raul i wil leave now cos there will not be a place for him even on the bench.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather advice that chelsea should let RAUL MEIRELES remain in the squad...he's a fantastic player, who has fantastic times
ReplyDeleteMeireles is just a fine player why don't we sale essien, malouda and allow meireles to stay! As for me i don't think is a good business to sale him. He has contribute anough to our champions league nd fa glory so lets stil give him more oppurtunity to prove him self
ReplyDeleteHe shul go nd maluda shuld follow him 4get abt hulk roman nd 4me moses get neymar if u can cos moses wil nt b a regular player nd we nid som1 hu can break tru defence any tym nd produce somtin 4 torres or any 1 inside de box plz get him neymar he is wonderfull
ReplyDeleteWe need to let lampard, malouda, benayoun, feirera go. Especially Lampard cos others can afford 2 sit on bench but he wont and causing more trouble in d process. If we want Oscar to be successful then LAMPARD MUST GO! beef recipes
ReplyDeleteWell I don't really know what to think about this 'cause on one hand Raul is a long range specialist in terms of shots in recent times, we all know that Essien & Lampard have both weakened in those areas as for Romeu i really can't see any class in him, the only good is the fact that he has more years to develop. On the other hand Raul has been somewhat lacking in ball retention & drive to win it (the ball) back... Added to the ticking clock on his career (age) if its time to go for him i'd sadly see it that way too. Though i'd rather wish to see Benayoun leave before Raul & like we all have said the Mid field is at the moment over crowded.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with you.... There are other player that should leave as well even before we talk of Raul's exist, Malouda just sits there on a high wage doing really nothing, it'll get even worse nxt season with the young players signed in now, he'll just get paid to warm the bench which is not advisable with the impending FFP rule. Also in this case is Benayoun, for me Essien looked good in pre season tour in the US against PSG but again he is injury prone & has been battling with his left knee for a while now.. He may look fit now but another hit on that knee will send him off for a long time again so i feel these kind of players should leave.
ReplyDeleteRAUL MEIRALES has been a good squad member nd has done us good job at crucial stages in our way to CL nd FA cup glory last season. Considering the crowdiness of the midfield at the club right now, he nd some other ageing midfielders like Benayoun, malouda need to move on. So as to free the wages book as well as give the aquired players room to prove themselves.
ReplyDeleteRaul Miereles is a terrible footballer and that is the end of it. GET RID OF HIM AND MALOUDA ASAP Im sick to death of seeing his name on the teamsheat and josh mceachrans nowhere near it. Awful Player.
ReplyDeleteI think he should go....he loses possession of the ball easily....
