Alot is being made of Chelsea's transfer dealings so far this summer and of course people have their own opinions. For me, it's really exciting and indicates a complete change of philosophy within the club.
I have posted on here before about how exciting it is and have also posted about the "second coming of Roman's revolution of Chelsea" and I stand by both posts.
The thing that interests me the most is that it looks as though RDM will stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation that has revitalised us ever since he took charge. Being honest, he had to make do with the players he had in wide areas after moving Juan Mata inside. We had the likes of Ramires playing on the wing and in the Champions League final, Ryan Bertrand playing on the wing.
This season, looks like being a different story and the complete opposite of last. Think about it, we have Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Ramires, Lucas Piazon, Yossi Benayoun AND Marko Marin already and Victor Moses and Oscar being linked.
Whether or not the Moses deal comes off, Piazon gets a run in the squad and Yossi Benayoun stays here, it looks like RDM wants to have his "Super Six" fighting for the three places in behind our striker.
Maybe, under RDM, Yossi Benayoun will finally find his feet at Chelsea. Having struggled to get ahead of the likes of Frank Lampard and Ramires within our 4-3-3 formation. However, now Frank Lampard is playing deeper as part of the holding midfield two, this allows Benayoun to become part of the side.
Fernando Torres has always spoken very highly of Benayoun and given the ball in the right positions, Benayoun could really thrive under RDM in one of those three positions.
All of the players mentioned above are more than happy to collect the ball in any area of the pitch, move out wide, come inside and will cause anyone problems with their movement. Marko Marin is the only one who has said he prefers to play out wide, but looking at his performance the other day and especially his involvement in one of the Lukaku goals, he is more than capable of coming in side.
Looking like they will all have the freedom to roam around and create openings/chances, Chelsea will be a very different proposition to what sides in the Premier League are used to and I can't wait to see it.
One thing is for sure, RDM will have plenty of options and what options to have!
KTBFFH!
