With "reports" going around that Chelsea are "willing to sell" Michael Essien, I just wondered what the general opinion amongst Chelsea fans reading this all over the world is nowadays?
It's no secret Essien has had his injury problems and with persistent knee problems and those same problems have affected his Chelsea career of late.
In the last FOUR seasons and in all competitions, Michael Essien has made a total of 102 first team appearances, an average of just over 25 per season. Last season, Essien made just 19 appearances in all competitions and I just wonder if Chelsea have really decided to cut their loses with him?
The problem we have with Essien is that when he IS fit, he is simply immense. A powerhouse with a great engine, he is someone that anyone would love to have in the middle of the park but again, as long as he is fit.
With Chelsea having one of the best medical teams in the game now, Essien has every opportunity to get over his problems and to play a part in our side this season. Let's face it, we are going to need every single player in our squad to battle on all fronts aren't we!.
The thing is, if he gets injured for a sustained period again, Chelsea will lose out on that squad member which long term, could really affect us.
So what should Chelsea do? Stick with Essien or twist and sell him?
What do you think? If it was me, I would go with him for one more season because when he is fit and playing, no one else could take his place!.
KTBFFH!
I say we stick with him. He looked brilliant in two preseason matches (PSG;All-stars) and I can only see him improve and carry that form into the season. You have to agree with me...when he played in those two matches,he own his midfield.
ReplyDeleteTo addendum to it;he is a fine player when fully fit and I subscribe giving him one more chance @bridge for this season and if he doesnt perform then an option should be envolked by d mgt.moreso he should be caution on d way he stampede on opponent legs when loosing a ball, also d way he manage his elbow when contesting with opponent calls for worries.the managers must tell him d risk involved.
ReplyDeletePlz let us give Essien a chance in this season
ReplyDeleteEssien should please be given one more season. On a good day (injury free) he is a player you can bank on. He brings a lot of strenght and stability to the midfield. I think he should be considered to play one more season.
