Ever since Chelsea won the Champions League, I have been buzzing and still watch Didier Drogba's header and winning penalty virtually every day as I still can't quite believe that after eight years of this team trying, they finally won it.
However, one thing has become very clear to me in recent weeks and that's the resentment of Chelsea from other supporters. Now whether it's the club in general and the same old comment about "Buying our Trophies", to the resentment of the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole or even more apparent, the way that the players have treated certain managers, it's clear to me that other supporters haven't or refuse point blank to acknowledge our achievements.
I have to say and it may be because I am biased being a Chelsea fan of course, but I don't feel as though Chelsea have received the credit where it's due for winning the competition!. People prefer to talk about the way we played rather than the fact that we did a job to win the competition by playing a certain way. Like I said last week, we are now tarnished with "Playing the Chelsea way" because of three games - two against Barcelona and the final against Munich.
Now listen, everyone has a right to their own opinions and I respect that. It doesn't mean I agree with some opinions and the same can be said of people reading what I write or say when I speak to them. I understand that looking from he outside in, and the turnover of managers here that people have every right to criticise Chelsea and Roman Abramovich.
One comment I received was about John Terry and Frank Lampard leading the "revolt" against AVB and other people such as Scolari etc. I was told that the way they acted as a "disgrace". Of course I tried to explain what happened in my opinion and stated the following:
AVB came into the club on a three year deal with direction to set about changing the face of our squad in that time. In the beginning everyone bought into his ideas and played the way he wanted to play but when things started to go wrong, the players became concerned.
The treatment of Alex and Anelka shocked the players when the players saw things were going wrong, the pushed for change to the way they were playing.
You have to remember, these players had been there and won it all in their time together and knew what it takes to be successful so have a right to air their views if that is what they did.
I don't think my explanation went down too well but the fact of the matter is, to me it's exactly what happened.
I guess that being a Chelsea fan, we understand that we will read all sorts of crap in the press and media, understand that some people will never like us no matter what we do and some people have made mistakes away from the football pitch that people will find it hard to forget.
That's just the English mentality though isn't it. We build them up and knock em down. It's just a shame that people would rather focus on any kinds of negativity than to pick out the positives of last season.
The players picked themselves up, got together behind the manager and won football's biggest prize along with our third FA Cup in four seasons.
So like I say, I do understand that people have opinions and have every right to have them, it's just a shame that these days, they are based on crap from the press and not the actual facts.
You know what, I don't care as Chelsea is my club, will always be my club no matter who plays, who manages and how owns it. People come and go, but Chelsea will always remain.
We are European Champions - we are Chelsea and I'll keep the Blue Flag Flying High!.
Carefree!
