The rumour mill is really in full swing now isn't it and one story that keeps doing the rounds is that Roberto Mancini, still reeling from the fact that Man City let Sturridge leave the club, is keen to re-sign him.
Sturridge started last season well under AVB and looked to be full of confidence. He often spoke about the fact that Owen Coyle first gave him the encouragement he needed to express himself and enjoy his football at Bolton and that seemed to be the case under AVB.
However, soon after Roberto Di Matteo took over, Sturridge lost his place to Salomon Kalou and never really got back into the side to put a decent run of games together.
It seems that if Di Matteo took over at the club full time and with rumours of Hulk being signed to complete a dream front four next season at Chelsea, Sturridge would find himself on the bench again.
The problem Sturridge has is that he wants to play through the middle but was never going to get that chance with Drogba AND Torres here. Maybe he will be given the nod to fight for that position with Torres this season but being honest, I can't see it.
So, Mancini and City are keen to take him back to Eastlands and there is talk of a £10m bid being made shortly. The question is, will Chelsea want to keep him here or will they decide to let him go?
If you ask me, I would love to keep him based on his natural ability but all it comes down to first team football. It's because of that, I think he will leave.
What do you people think? Will he stay or will he go?
KTBFFH!

Depends on how much? For 15 million he should be allowed to leave! If not, then club should persuade him that he's got the chance now to fight Torres for main Striker role, which he can never get in Mancity (dzeko, balotelli, aguero, tevez). But if he insists,& does not extend his 1 year contract, then sell him.
ReplyDeleteOnly sell him If there is going to be a replacement Like schurrle
ReplyDeleteI'll preferably swap him for Adam Johnson, earn some extra cash from the deal and leave lukaku as a backup striker. Lukaku needs play time too. Sturridge is too selfish, always wants his name on the scoresheet. If only he decides to pass at the right time, he could become a better player
ReplyDeleteSpot on (anonymous). The kid does not play for the team. 15m or more, let him go. Lukaku will be more the battering ram defenders dread and Schurle will cost less as another able future forward.
ReplyDeleteSwap for Adam Johnson, who is much the better player. Studge is simply not good enough and the only reason to keep him is to fill a homegrown spot. Get rid of that whinger
ReplyDeleteI agree for 15 let him go he's not a team player, out for himself. I think they need another natural winger on that side.....
ReplyDeleteKeep him. World class potential. Home grown. Can add to the team now and more in the future. To sell him to a rival would be unwise. If torres needs a tlrest hulk could cover but I'd rather he stayed on the right except for tactical reasons. Sturridge is similar to Torres. He can easily slip in behind a main striker or either wing.c
