When Chelsea won the Champions League and even though Roman Abramovich told the players after the game that "This is just the beginning", It will also mark the end of an era at Chelsea.
In a couple of days time and as the transfer window re-opens we all know there will be people leaving and coming into the club.
We all know that Didier Drogba is leaving but there are also reports that Salomon Kalou, Florent Malouda and Jose Bosingwa will follow him. As usual with Chelsea and the press, there are rumours of plenty more but let's stick with reality for the time being.
Each of these players have played their part in the most successful time in our history and it's important that we recognise that fact. More than anyone Didier Drogba has become immortalised here and without question will enter the hall of fame at the club. He was the best £24m Roman ever spent!.
The others have also played their part and that's also been important. OK, being honest, they all have had their moments here and haven't been everyone's favourite BUT, like I keep saying, they have also played their part.
Florent Malouda played a massive part in our double winning season and we should never forget that. OK, his form has been in and out and in recent times he has been in and out of the team, but when he got his act together, he had a fantastic season.
Jose Bosingwa is not everyone's ideal defender is he. He wouldn't be peoples first choice if you were asked to pick a right back, but going forward for the most part he has also played an important role. Scoring some important goals and being an equal threat down the right to Cole down the left, he has provided a balance in the team.
Arguably, Bosingwa's best defensive performance was that night back at the Nou Camp as he slotted into the middle of the back four next to Ivanovic as we battled away with ten men. He like the others, was immense that night and also played his part in the final in Munich.
Salomon Kalou, and I have said this before, is one of the most frustrating players we have watched during this era. Brilliant at times and then frustrating the next, you literally never know what he will produce for you.
Again though, during his time at Chelsea, he has also played an important role with important goals and overall involvement in the team. Think about it for a second, he has been up against the likes of Drogba, Anelka, Shevchenko and Torres so it was always going to be difficult to force his way into the side but he HAS made an impact at times.
Roman Abramovich came to Chelsea to pick this club up by the scruff of it's neck, to invest in the playing staff and the infrastructure, and to take the club forward to become one of the biggest in the world.
After 8 years, we have won The Champions League once, lost in the final once, Won the Premier League three times, finished runners up in the Premier League three times, Won the FA Cup four times, Won the League Cup twice and won the Community Shield twice.
It's been the most successful time in our history and these players along with the others that remain, have all played their part and that success.
So on July 1st it will be all change at Chelsea with the likes of Hazard and Marin coming into the club.
Please just remember to take a moment on that day to remember the ones that are leaving us finally as Champions League winners!.
