Tonight a jubilant and confident Chelsea travel to Anfield to take Liverpool in the Premier League with a chance to close the gap on Newcastle, Spurs and the Arsenal on the final day of the season as the race for the top four hots up!.
It's a long shot for Chelsea, but after some interesting results this weekend, the door has been left open again and we HAVE TO take the chance to get three important points.
Now we all know playing Liverpool at any time is a difficult game. After beating AVB's Chelsea twice this season early on, hopefully Liverpool and their supporters can see that with Robbie Di Matteo in charge, we are now a stronger, different side.
Saturday's FA CUP win will give this group of players the winning mentality which is all important as we look to kick on towards Munich. Tonight, Chelsea need to be at their best to get the right result.
Liverpool have had a disappointing season to say the least. They won the League Cup but their league position is far from good enough and I can't believe the amount of points they have dropped at home this season. Fortress Anfield seems to be no more, but on any given day in this league, anyone can beat anyone and Liverpool will be up for this one tonight.
So where has it all gone wrong for Liverpool? I pointed out that their weakness is in the middle of midfield ever since Lucas was injured. They have no out and out holding midfielder who can win a tackle and pick a pass and Steven Gerrard can't do it all himself.
Look back in the day where they had Alonso and Mascherano. One a ball winner and the other the play maker. They have never really replaced either one of these two and that's been their problem.
On the flip side, our midfield is strong and we have plenty of options. Mikel has been outstanding in the holding role alongside (believe it or not) Frank Lampard. With Michael Essien, Oriol Romeu and Raul Meireles all waiting in the wings, we have plenty of strength there and that's the difference between the two sides.
I do expect some Chelsea changes tonight but we will still be a strong outfit as the results last weekend have almost certainly forced Di Matteo's hand.
I predict Chelsea's starting eleven will be:
Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, JT(C), Cole, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Mata, Sturridge and Torres.
Bench: Turnbull, Bertrand, Hutchinson, Mikel, Meireles, Kalou, Drogba.
Chelsea will be up and at it tonight and will need to be as without question Liverpool will want to gain revenge for Saturday.
You will notice that I have included Fernando Torres in the starting eleven and with his form being as it is, I wouldn't put it past him in scoring again tonight.
I honestly believe (and no disrespect to Liverpool) that Chelsea have everything going for us tonight. We're up and confident with a winning mentality and Munich on the horizon.
We should be too strong for Liverpool tonight and repeat scoreline could be on the cards.
Come on Chelsea! Give us three important points! Torres WILL score!
