ROMEU: COULD THIS BE THE REASON HE ISN'T PLAYING?

I personally think that Romeu's contract is what is stopping AVB first of all and now Roberto Di Matteo from playing him anymore this season and it's the only explanation I can come up with at the moment as to why Oriol Romeu hasn't featured at all. He last played for the first team back in January and ever since then he has disappeared from view apart from appearances on our substitutes bench.

Now we have heard shortly after he made the move to Stamford Bridge and started playing regularly under AVB, that apparently there is a "buy back clause" in his contract inserted by Barcelona giving them the option of re-signing him at the end of his first AND second season at Chelsea. This was denied by the club but bearing in mind the fact he hasn't featured at all for months now, it has to be true in my opinion.

I checked the Official Chelsea Website here and it confirms that Romeu has made 15 appearances so far this season for the first team. I just wonder if there is something in his contract that maybe states that more than 15 in this season will "trigger" some kind of option for Barcelona to re-sign him on the cheap and that's why Chelsea are holding him back?.

For me, Romeu has been one of the success stories of our season and made a real impact when he came into the side. With the current 4-2-3-1 formation ideal for him to slot alongside the impressive Mikel in recent weeks, I can't understand why he isn't playing. Especially when RDM has spoken of rotation and playing players who are fresh for each game. Surely no one at the club is as fresh as Romeu now!?

For me, it's the ONLY explanation there is and AVB and now RDM's hands are tied for the remainder of the season!.
