TORRES "ADVISED" TO LEAVE CHELSEA!

As we all know, everyone and their mother has an opinion on Fernando Torres. We have heard it non stop from the moment he joined Chelsea until now. It comes as no surprise that we are reading more on Torres and his "situation" at Chelsea, this time from "pundit" Alan Shearer.

He was asked of the apparent incident that took place the other night against Birmingham and the fact that when Juan Mata offered Torres the penalty, he turned it down. This has only added to the ongoing spotlight Torres finds himself under at Chelsea.

Shearer said:

“It’s baffling. I’m pretty sure the ability is still there but his confidence is obviously at an all-time low.

I hope he gets back to what he was – but it might take a move away from Chelsea to do it, It was always difficult for him going there because of the fee and because of whether he was the manager or the owner’s choice. Sometimes you need to help yourself in those situations and he’s not by not taking penalties. It baffles me. Why not?

I was very, very surprised he didn’t take it. I was amazed. You’ve got a penalty, you’re 2-0 up and you haven’t scored for 20-odd games. When you’re on a barren run like that it’s a golden opportunity to score a goal. I was really surprised. No-one’s going to hand you the opportunity from a yard out, so I was shocked he didn’t take it.”

Now I just want to state on record a couple of things here. I have ALWAYS stood by Fernando Torres just like the majority of Chelsea fans because we want to see him succeed here for us. We know if things do click for him, he could lead us to all kinds of success.

Now I don't ever remember Torres taking a penalty for anyone let alone the other night. To his credit, he stated to Mata that HE was the designated penalty taker with Lampard and Drogba not on the pitch and that shouldn't change.

Rather than focus on the negative, how about we concentrate on a positive here. Despite the goal drought and constant focus on him, he still believes that by working hard, his luck will change and he will come good for Chelsea. It takes some bottle to turn the penalty down.

Also, I just wonder if we will finally get to see Torres' goals under Roberto Di Matteo. It was obvious to me that AVB wasn't really an "arm around your shoulder" kind of Manager. I get the impression that RDM is and will do that with Torres.

That could be the kind of thing that kick starts Torres' Chelsea career after everything has more or less faltered so far. All I could take is a simple thing like that!.

So I am calling on you Chelsea fans to continue to back Torres, continue singing his name week in, week out and we WILL see the Fernando Torres we all want to see!
