I was reading an article in The Sun this morning and for one of the only times I can remember, it made perfect sense which says alot right now. The question of Roman Abramovich's next step and who he will appoint as manager will be discussed from here on in until the summer. Names that are already been linked with the club are: Benitez, Guardiola, Redknapp, Capello and Mourinho.
Speculation will without question, reach fever pitch and expect all kinds of nonsense in the coming months.
One thing is for sure, this club needs to be picked up by the scruff of the neck, shaken up, woken up and put back on track and for me right now, there is only one man that can and WOULD do that without a single hesitation.
Sacked Chelsea manager Felipe' Scolari has called the job "Hell" since he heard AVB has been sacked and it's because of the senior players in the dressing room. I have had my say on AVB being sacked (rightly so) and about the players this morning and stand by both of my articles.
The thing is with the amount of rotation of managers we have had here now, Chelsea's dressing room and the people in it, have almost reportedly become bigger than the manager. Again, there is only one person that could bring it into line.
Getting back to the article I started this post referring to, The Sun's Steven Howard says:
There is only one man who can turn Chelsea round. He's right isn't he. It's obvious now that we need someone to come in here bigger than our dressing room, to command the instant respect of the players and the supporters.
Yes, Jose Mourinho.
Abramovich knows he made an enormous mistake in letting him go. That he listened to his players then and paid the price - as he has continued to do so.
He is the only man the Chelsea fans will trust to draw the line under the careers of those club legends who have clearly come to the end of their time at Stamford Bridge.
He is the only manager who is bigger than these players. Maybe, on the back of his success at Inter and Real Madrid, he is even bigger than Chelsea.
He is the only man the fans will listen to. And, with Guus Hiddink otherwise engaged at Russian club Anzhi, he is the only man Abramovich will listen to.
Mourinho has an almost unique ability among modern-day managers of being able to put a successful structure in place QUICKLY.
Of mixing and matching the old with the new.
Of detecting and attracting the right players for the job at hand.
And of making changes while maintaining and improving standards.
He also has enough madness of his own to feel quite at home in the cuckoo's nest of Fulham Broadway.
More than anyone, he knows exactly what he will be walking into.
That man is Jose Mourinho. Would Jose accept players not being prepared to play for him? Would he put up with some of the reported crap AVB had to? Do you think he would think twice about ending the careers of some of the senior players?
Roman, there is ONLY one.
