Juventus linked with Essien move - Would we sell?

Reports have surfaced this morning in the written press that Juventus who have re-emerged in recent times from their dull drums, have money to spend this summer and are more than interested in Michael Essien. I just wonder if with reports of a clear out at Chelsea this summer, if Essien is one of those players the club wants to move on.

Essien is 29 now and had had numerous injuries with his knees. His time at Chelsea had really been spoilt by it and he has spent more time trying to get back to match fitness as he has playing.

I just wonder with the emergence of Oriol Romeu and Ramires here if Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board will decide that he is injury prone and take the money that Juventus offers us in the summer.

Since Essien joined the club at the start of the 2005-6 season, he has averaged 32 appearances a season in all competitions over a period of seven seasons including this one. If you compare that to Frank Lampard who over the same period of time has made on average 46 appearances, it is a huge difference when you think about it. Frank plays 14 more games per season than Essien.

Don't get me wrong, when Essien stays fit he is one of the best midfielders there is, he has it all. He is box to box with endless energy, he can tackle, pass the ball, create chances and score goals. All this while being known as "The Bison" because of his undoubted strength.

Like I said though, the problem is the injuries. With Roman looking to reinvent our team and to shake things up here (if reports are to be believed) I just wonder if Chelsea will decide to cash in on our Ghanaian?
