Following on from Danny Sturridge's earlier interview I posted on here today, Sturridge also spoke of playing for AVB, the club and his contract and of course playing out wide.
Whatever happens with Chelsea's season, Sturridge will come out of it as one of our success stories. Given the chance as we know at Bolton, he thrived by playing week in, week out and he has been given the same chance ever since his return to the club in the summer.
So when Sturridge was asked about all the above he said:
When asked about Sturridge and the impression he made against the Dutch at Wembley, Townsend spoke of the fact that he gives England something that little bit extra, an arrogance and confidence to maybe pull something out of the bag on the biggest stages of international football. He added that it's an arrogance that isn't in a bad way at all, but a belief in what he can do, his skill and the massive confidence he has now.
I thought he is spot on, he really is. Of course that confidence only comes with playing games and to be fair to him, he has been given the chance to make a claim for a regular start in the Chelsea team and has taken it.
OK at times he needs to work on lifting his head up and looking for people in better positions than himself to pass to rather than shoot all the time, and in the defensive side to his game, but Sturridge does give us that something extra. Remember the Wigan game away? Struggling to break them down all it took was one touch to bring the ball down and the second to strike the ball into the bottom corner.
There is and will be plenty of speculation about the likes of Drogba leaving us in the summer and potential replacements but I really hope that AVB will look to Sturridge more next season as a central striker up there in competition with Torres and Lukaku.
With pace to burn, natural skill and ability in addition to a swagger about him, Danny Sturridge is one of the big positives of our season and will be a world class striker in the future of that there is no question.
The fact that he loves playing for us and is totally committed to Chelsea is great news!

The manager has helped me a lot. He's playing me a lot so I can't complain. I've not had a Chelsea manager do that for me before. It's helped me so much because previously I've not had a chance to play week in and week out, except when I was on loan at Bolton. Now I want to say something here about Sturridge. I was watching the highlights of the England game on ITV the other night and ex-Chelsea player turned pundit Andy Townsend made a really interesting point about him.
To play at one of the best clubs in the world and start every week is a dream come true. I love playing for Chelsea. Some of the stuff I've read about me asking for a contract is not true. I've not spoken to the club to ask for a new contract, or told them I'm unhappy. I'm just doing a job. Working hard.
I'm not worrying about my contract. It's not true. I'm committed to Chelsea.
I've always seen myself as a striker. I've played that position since I was six or seven years old. But in the meantime I have to make do with playing out wide. I have to alter my game a little bit. There's a lot more work to be done.
I have to keep chasing back and chasing full-backs. It's completely different to playing up front. But I think it's gone well so far and hopefully I can continue improving as a player. When I do go back to playing as a centre-forward I'll be a better player for it.'
