Chelsea players urged to shut up and knuckle down!

As you all know, there has been plenty to talk about when it comes to Chelsea in recent weeks. Rumours about the manager being sacked, players not getting on with the manager, players being dropped, players admitting to not having a good relationship with the manager and plenty of comments made by players about our current plight this season. There isn't a single day that goes by without some form of negativity surrounding Chelsea from the press.

Just yesterday an interview given by David Luiz was twisted to make out that he was having a pop at Frank Lampard and most of us believed it. Of course Luiz came out and explained what was actually said and meant by his comments because of the attention from the media.

Now it seems like most of us, Danny Sturridge is sick of all this and has urged his players to shut up off the pitch and concentrate on doing all the talking they need on the football pitch!. He said:

'I just think everyone has to knuckle down and do their job, and focus on winning games for Chelsea. Everybody talks. It's just time to go out and do a job on the football field. That's where our talking is done.

It doesn't matter what we say off the field. We have to do our talking on the field. It's pointless talking off the field. It's not going to change anything.

A successful season now would be winning the FA Cup or the Champions League. If we could do one or the other it would be great. I think we've got to get some sort of silverware, and to get in the top four, to qualify for next season's Champions League.

We've got to push on from where we are now until the end of the season and try to get up the table.'

He has a point and I hope the players listen. If ever there was a time in our season when Chelsea as a unit needed to take on the backs against the wall mentality and close ranks together it's now.

As Sturridge says, it's all well and good saying how we need to improve and get results week after week but they need to get out there and do it!.

Fair play to Danny Sturridge here. I'm glad finally someone with a level head has come out and said it!.
