After picking the same eleven I had hoped he would at the weekend which for me apart from JT being injured is right now the strongest eleven we have on paper, watching Drogba and Lampard both score and fire Chelsea to a 3-0 win against Bolton to put pressure back on Arsenal for fourth place, AVB spoke about Frank Lampard and revealed that he will continue to rotate players between now and the end of the season based on the opposition we are to due to face.
I am asking you all the question (and I want to try and hear from as many Chelsea fans as possible on this) if you agree with it or disagree. Here is what AVB said :
“Speculation on Lampard is normal, he is used to playing every match, he is one of the top five-six players in the Premier League in terms of minutes played this season.(Source)
Perhaps he has been playing less than usual, but those are technical decisions that we make, according to what is best for the team.
Frank represents a lot, and most of the times he has to be in the starting XI because he is one of the best players in the world, and one of the best players for the team, but other times we decided different and that is the way it will continue to be.
I put Lampard on [against Napoli] because of what he gives to the team, not because of his goals, Frank has a unique timing in the world when it comes to entering the box, he scores goals, he always has in his career.
His stats this season are not different from the other seasons. Because of strategic reasons, we have made other choices.
Against Napoli we played with two midfielders in front of the defence and Mata as a No.10. Those are decisions to have to make before every game in terms of what we think is best for the team.”
I know this post is related to Lampard but it would seem apparent to all the players. The question is whether or not from now until the end of the season it's a good thing?.
I will try and explain my argument here and you guys and girls can post your own opinions below but for me, we have to play our strongest eleven as part of a settled team to give us our best chance of a good run of results now.
I mentioned it after the Napoli game but for those of you that missed it, let me ask you the question "What did you hear in the most part, from the Napoli players and management before our game last week?". What you heard was them speaking of being huge underdogs for the game, how big the game is for them and what it means to their town let alone themselves!. The reason? It's based on the perception and reputation Chelsea have now that has been built over the years.
A Champions League first leg away from home in the knockout stages, you would expect to field our strongest side available but AVB didn't and that is what is the most confusing about all this. Instead, players were left out or rotated and because of that, Napoli probably thought to themselves "Why were we worried??".
I understand that match preparation is as much about the opposition as it is about our own side nowadays and I do understand where AVB is coming from here ONLY if we are on form, playing well and full of confidence throughout the squad. Right now it is something we aren't and this is why I believe we need to play our strongest eleven now week in, week out no matter who the opposition is because let's face it, for the most part, it hasn't worked so far this season rotating players and especially in the big games now has it.
The thing is reading AVB's comments again, it seems as though he WILL continue to rotate the players. The question I am putting to ALL Chelsea fans reading this article all over the world is:
Should AVB continue to rotate our players or stick with our strongest eleven now until the end of the season?

mr avb shuld stop is rotating attitude coz Cfc need is strongxt eleven to play week in week out and i dnt see why maireles play ahead of frank
ReplyDeleteMalouda and drogba has past it. Hence the need to start the best players that can complement torres, recall he scored 2 and assisted 2 in the champions league. A.v.b just needs to play him consistently. Even if he doesn't score, he is not selfish, he'll pass.
