We've had a week to digest what happened against Manchester United. Plenty has been said and written about last week but now is the time to look forward and focus on Goodison.
Roman Abramovich has been at the training ground this week and it will be interesting to see the level of performance from Chelsea today, to see if his presence has given the players a kick up the arse to refocus their efforts on climbing up the table.
This afternoon it's no easy game as we always know what we are up against with David Moyes' side. Hard working, dangerous from set plays and with a fanatical crowd behind them, Chelsea need to be at their best to win today.
It will be interesting to see if Everton line up with two up front or play five in midfield with Cahill in behind. The signing of Jelavic is a good one and could it be the time he is given a start? I'm not so sure.
As for Chelsea? Ashley Cole should come back in at left back which makes it interesting to see if Bosingwa will now miss out and AVB decides to stick with Ivanovic at right back. Cahill and Luiz should start once again.
Frank Lampard is back in contention along with Mikel but I expect BOTH of them to be on the bench this afternoon. However, I hope we make one change in midfield with Romeu in for Malouda to play next to Michael Essien. This will allow Raul Meireles to push further forward beside Juan Mata and Danny Sturridge who, needs to up his game and play for the team more than he has been!.
Fernando Torres to carry on up front and I don't know why, but I just have a sneaky feeling that he WILL score today. I can't explain it and after THAT EXTRA TOUCH last week, people will find it hard to believe, but I really do believe he will score today.
No matter what and who plays, we expect three points today. Is it right to think that way? Yes it is because we really have no choice now with the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal pushing us for fourth.
Every week I'm looking out for Spurs results as we can't have them stretching the gap week in, week out. We have a chance to claw back to four points before they play Newcastle later tonight. We simply cannot afford to drop ANY points today.
Everton will be focused, will be motivated and looking to take another top four scalp. Chelsea need to match them from the start and then play our football.
We have the quality to win this game, we just need to make sure we see it this afternoon!.
Come on Chelsea!
