Well well well, I thought it might happen after reading AVB's full interview comments that have been heavily featured in the press this week. Now it's normally our foreign players who end up being quoted saying something about the club when they are away with their national teams but in this case it's our manager.
If these reports that have surfaced this morning ARE true, then you have wonder what will happen. I have to reiterate to you all that it could once again be pure speculation.
Apparently (as featured in The Guardian), Chelsea's top brass have been left "unimpressed" by his interview as featured on the Portuguese Radio Station TSF.
The club is believed to be unhappy with the comments he made about his position at the club and the comments made about Abramovich in the past and also the comparison made between Fernando Torres, Andrei Shevchenko and Mateja Kesman.
He said:
"I know that, in the Abramovich era, we have the worst results but I think I have felt the confidence from the owner. Let’s see if he wants a change in the club or not.
The pattern of behaviour of the owner has led to a downfall of managers in similar situations, or even ‘better’ situations. What will be his reaction? It will be one of two: either a continuation of the project and full support from above; or a continuation of the cultural pattern that has happened before.
We don’t know. We don’t know if it’ll be tomorrow or in two years from now. It’ll depend upon what is your understanding of what is happening at the moment.
We've been through this Torres situation before, with Kezman and Shevchenko, We continue to work on his motivation, his specific movements on the field, and his trust. There is only one atmosphere which will make him regain his trust, and that is a competitive atmosphere. For me, there was a key moment for Torres: his sending-off against Swansea. He was playing well and he was motivated at the time, he had returned to goals [scoring], also in that match. But he was sent off and got a three-match ban. There was also an international match in between, so he did not play for Chelsea for one month.
I do not know how much that affected him, but when he got back, we had two disappointments in terms of results, and he returned to this disbelief in himself, and that may have been when he lost his understanding with the group and that way which made him feel well with the group."
Now for me, it's easy to compare the Torres situation but what he has said is pretty much exactly what has happened so far so you can't fault him with that.
It's the comments he made about the way Roman has acted in the past that I thought at the time wouldn't be appreciated upstairs and if these reports are to be believed, they haven't been.
I wonder.
