AVB hasn't exactly had it easy since he has come to Chelsea has he?. He came into the club as a breath of fresh air speaking of motivation, fine tuning the team and with his technical staff getting the best out of everyone.
Chelsea sit fourth just ahead of the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal and a whopping 12 points behind United and Man City and more importantly seven points and four goals behind Spurs.
Has he done what he said he would so far? I think only to a point with certain players, that to me is a fair answer. I don't think anyone can argue any different.
So what does tomorrow mean for AVB who has come under intense scrutiny as our manager from the media, the press and our fans?. Of course being the Chelsea manager you expect a certain level of pressure but with the side under performing and with Mourinho rumoured to be wanting to get away from Madrid, the focus will be on AVB.
I do understand his critics and I have been one of them because let's face it every single one of us has a right to an opinion, but I still back him and believe in him as our manager and what he is trying to do here.
The problem he has now is that because of the position we find ourselves in, we simply cannot afford to drop points now as we are in danger of being sucked out of the top four which for Chelsea as a club would be a disaster, the pressure is on.
So how will AVB live with it? I have to say, he remains one of the calmest people you will hear speak in his press conferences before and after games and he continues to stick with his footballing philosophy to his credit.
He could have caved in and changed the way HE wanted us to play when things haven't been going right for us but he hasn't at all. His side will take to the Stamford Bridge pitch tomorrow once again instructed to play his way, whether or not they will do is another thing, but he will be there jumping about and shouting instructions to his players all game.
The thing is, the longer this goes on, the more pressure he will be under and the wrong result really would put the heat on our man. You can imagine the headlines now on Monday morning if it does.
Imagine what the headlines would be if Chelsea were to beat United tomorrow at home? Would we see the same focus on the positives of having AVB as our manager? Would we see credit where credit is due? I doubt it being honest.
For Chelsea, tomorrow is the biggest game of our season but for AVB I think it's now become even bigger. He goes up against the master in Sir Alex Ferguson who in recent times, knows exactly how to set his side up to beat us.
If only AVB can get the same performance from Chelsea tomorrow as they showed in the second half at Old Trafford!.
Chelsea need the right result tomorrow but for AVB as a manager and as a man he's facing his biggest test up against the best there is, he needs it so much more!.
