Chelsea 1-0 Sunderland - Another important three points.

I said on here that I would take a win before the game no matter how well or bad we played in this one and as I sat on the tube going home I was relieved. Chelsea at times played well but again found ourselves exposed by in form Sunderland and if the likes of McLean and Bendtner had taken their chances, it could have been a very different story.

The whole game was pretty even to be fair, both sides going at each other whenever they had a chance to. Torres was lively up front but watching him you can still see he is frustrated that his runs are being ignored. When he was involved he caused Sunderland problems and was unlucky to find himself booked for diving in the box when it seemed to me like a stone wall penalty.

Sunderland themselves had a decent penalty shout when Bendtner went down in the box after a challenge from behind, it wasn't given.

Chelsea just need to relax themselves and kill these teams off and it's something we have struggled to do lately. It's because we have struggled that the likes of Fulham, Wigan and Spurs have taken a point from us, Sunderland were no different. If Bendtner had composed himself and take the chance right at the death it could have been another two points dropped!.

The fact of the matter is Chelsea managed to get the win, a clean sheet and three points. Lampard scored for the third game running, Fernando Torres (hearing the chants of "Torres, Torres, Torres!" for most of the game, looked like he is getting back to where he was at the start of the season and Michael Essien returned to the side.

Credit to Sunderland under O'Neill for the way they played and wanted to fight for every ball. I said it would be a tough game and it proved to be exactly that. The reports after this one were about missed chances and penalty claims. Chelsea took one of their chances and being honest that was the only difference!.
