AVB: Bid for Alex, McEachran on loan, Drogba and Kalou staying.

AVB has spoken to the press ahead of this weeks game coming up against Sunderland. Putting the game to one side, there are important transfer dealings that were addressed by AVB putting the record straight regarding the situation with a number of players, and this is what I want to focus on right now.

Firstly, AVB has confirmed that "A Premier League club" has made an offer for want away defender Alex. He said:

'From what I know from my chief executive, there has been an approach from a Premier League club.
It is a player who we have accepted a transfer request for, so we have to listen to offers.'

We all know that the player in question is Alex, and in recent days with Mark Hughes taking over at QPR and speaking of Alex's quality, we can put our house on the fact that it's QPR's bid that AVB is referring to. Expect this to be done in a matter of days..

Next up, the situation regarding Gary Cahill and although it looked like the deal would be done and dusted by now, there hasn't been word from anyone on this at all. AVB spoke of the deal and said:

"We are still hopeful we can reach an agreement soon - hopefully this week."

In some areas, people have stated that a deal should be concluded today. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't to be honest and could even be next week now.

Next up was the situation with the media linking Frank Lampard with a move away from the club. Last week we had seen ridiculous reports stating that Manchester United were interested in signing him. AVB was once again, quick to respond stating that he is part of his plans by saying:

“He’s going to be here for sure,”

I can see Lampard having a great second half to the season as we do need his goals. For example I have stated this morning that I think we need Lampard starting tomorrow to nick us a goal with one of his late runs. People moan about Frank, but you can't argue with his record.

Next up the situation with Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba who have both been the subject of intense speculation recently. Kalou has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in recent days and we all know the situation with Didier Drogba and a mega money move to China.

With both players being away, AVB was keen to point out that BOTH of them remain in his plans and is looking forward to them coming back from the African Cup of Nations. He said:

"They will both be our players when they return. When they return they return to this club. We hope to hold onto them until the end of the season."

I do find it strange about Kalou because let's be honest, he has hardly featured for us this season. I do understand that AVB sees him maybe as cover for all three front positions but everyone remains fit, he will struggle for games.

As for Drogba, I guess he wants to rely in him giving us an "unplayable performance" once in a while!

Finally, it seems as though AVB has decided that it IS best for Josh McEachran to leave the club on loan as early as next week. Swansea are the favourites to sign him so expect a deal to be done as early as Monday..

So there you have it, it looks like ONLY Anelka and Alex will be confirmed as leaving the club in this window. Kakuta and McEachran will be sent out on loan to Dijon and possibly Swansea, Patrick Van Aanholt has returned from Wigan after his loan deal was terminated, Everyone else is staying and Gary Cahill plus one other will be coming in.

I guess you could say it's gonna be a quiet window and we won't have much to look out for come deadline day! OR WILL WE!??
