Anelka's message for the Chelsea fans.

Nico Anelka, speaking ahead of his "new adventure" in China has taken the time out to release a statement thanking the Chelsea fans for their support in "four wonderful years" at the club. The statement in full says:

"I want to thank you all for the support you have always provided. I spent four wonderful years at this great club, where I worked alongside great players that have now become dear friends. But like everything else, this adventure ends...

On the eve of my 33rd year, I am headed to a new adventure, a new life, a different pace and a different world.

I want to acknowledge and send a big thank you to the Chelsea fans, players and all those working in the shadow of the club and especially a warm 'thank you, England.'

Anelka is a class act. I posted a tribute to Anelka on here a few weeks ago shortly after he handed in his transfer request. Please make sure you read it as I stand by what i said "We never knew we had it so good".

When players request a move or ask to leave a club, sometimes fans turn on them or against them and they aren't welcome back at the club. Nicolas Anelka is different, he leaves this club with the respect of everyone for the way he has always handled himself on and off the pitch.
