Tonight Chelsea have a chance to get another important three points as we take on Wigan at the DW. Our recent run has been impressive beating the likes of Newcastle and Manchester City in the Premier League but it's games like tomorrow that Chelsea have to ensure they approach the same way. Our good run will all come to nothing if we do not perform tomorrow.
So what of the game? Wigan beaten heavily at home to Arsenal in their last home game will look to improve on that performance against us after travelling to the Hawthorns and beating West Brom last week. Roberto Martinez is doing well there with limited resources and will not expect anything from this one. Expect Wigan to play with nothing to lose tomorrow and do have some dangerous players that Chelsea need to keep an eye on.
I think it's fair to say that Wigan fans will not expect anything out of this game tomorrow and would see a point as a great result. So in effect although most people would expect a Chelsea away win, the pressure will be on our players to perform first of all and then to get the three points.
AVB will have another dilemma ahead of kick off as to who starts this one. David Luiz returns to the fold after missing out with suspension against Man City. Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard in the headlines for different reasons this week) are pushing for places just like everyone else so AVB has plenty of options to choose from.
It would be easy to stick with the settled side he has been doing of late with maybe only the one change bringing Luiz in for Bosingwa, but I just wonder if he will decide to use this game to give those players pushing for a start a game and keep the others fresh for White Hart Lane on Thursday night in is by far the bigger game?.
Being a realist, and biased at that, no matter what Chelsea side take to the pitch at 1730 tomorrow, you would expect them to win the game if you compare the quality of both squads. Like I said earlier though, it's all about putting in a performance, earning the right result and getting three points.
So of course, I am going for a Chelsea win and anything else would be a major blow. I expect Chelsea to win with ease (no disrespect Wigan just being honest) by maybe three or four goals. What would be nice would be another clean sheet ahead of Spurs.
Let's hope I am right!. (Make sure you check the Live Odd's below for this one if you fancy a flutter on the correct score and first, last and anytime scorer).
