As we all know AVB is planning a clear out starting in January and continuing next summer after the club confirmed that transfer requests have been accepted from Alex and Nico Anelka. Over the weekend stories also broke that AVB is prepared to listen to offers for Drogba, Kalou, Bosingwa and Ferreira.
With news of these six players leaving by next summer I just wondered who we are likely to expect to replace them. The Guardian today has outlined potential replacements that AVB could look to bring to the club with Luka Modric, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne all mentioned.
I would say that three of them are all realistic targets, whether or not Spurs will be prepared to listen to even bigger offers for Luka Modric is another thing. Just the other day there were reports that Frank Lampard would be offered as part of the deal which I believe to be rubbish. Didier Drogba going there as part of the deal would be more realistic as it seems Spurs would struggle to keep Adebayor because of his wages.
Kevin De Bruyne is one that excites me. I have to admit, I never saw alot of him before we played Genk twice. At the Bridge he didn't do much, but his performance against us in Belgium was outstanding. (We could do with another performance from him like that tonight!).
Alvaro Pereira looks more and more a possibility even though it would reportedly take £26.5m to land him in January as AVB needs someone that understands his high lined defensive approach at the club.
As for Eden Hazard, he is definitely a talent and I would imagine all the major clubs with plenty of money would be in for him. Whether or not he would want to come to Chelsea is another thing!
I tell you one player I would make a move for as early as January and it would mean bringing and old player back and that it Arjen Robben!. There have been rumours that Chelsea are interested and as a result Bayern are trying to tie him down to another contract. I would love to see him back here!
Enough from me so will hand this over to you the Chelsea fans. Please remember the ruling about homegrown players and the financial fair play rules before you answer this question:
