If someone asked you about Carlo Ancelotti and his managerial style you would think of his time here in his first season winning the double, his time at AC Milan and the relationships he built with "his players".
Renowned for getting the maximum out of ageing players, Ancelotti was always one to stand up for the old guard and defend them to the hilt especially when he was here for two seasons.
However after watching this season unfold after being sacked at the end of last season, Carlo has urged Roman and the Chelsea board to point the finger at the players and the older ones in particular instead of the manager. He said:
I just wondered what your thoughts are on Ancelotti's comments. No one can deny we have a number of players the wrong side of 30. When times were bad last season it was these players that helped put a run together to push us back up the table. Will these same players do it all again this season or are they passed it now?
I disagree with Carlo when he says it's mostly the players. A manager has to implement a playing style that everyone is comfortable with and at the moment our defence look isolated and uncertain with what they are being asked to do (high line).
In order to make things work we need everyone to pull together, pull the whole philosophy AVB is trying to implement here to pieces and rebuild it step by step starting from the back. I am certain a compromise could be reached for the time being or at least until purchases can be made to come into our back four that WILL BE comfortable with playing a high line.
He is right though, AVB needs time and it looks like he will be given time and money in January again. Let's hope we invest wisely and invest to take us forward from where we find ourselves at the moment. Let's face it, anything is progress look at the way we are playing right now.
What do you think of Carlo's comments? Is it the manager, the players or both?

"Villas-Boas cannot work miracles. This is an old team now. It is exactly the same team as the one I left, with the exception of Juan Mata and Raul Meireles.(Source)
The problem is not Villas-Boas, it is with the team that he has. Andre is young and inexperienced, but he has done well and he is talented. I feel Roman (Abramovich) needs to give him time to sort it out and make his ideas work.
The problem is in the organisation and with the players - all the things that they have to change to make it better.
Maybe he does lack experience. But they knew that when they appointed him. He needs time."
