There is no question that tonight is now our biggest game of the season so far. 10 points behind City and we need the three points ahead of the busy Christmas period. If we were to lose tonight then 13 points is a massive ask.
Chelsea come into this one on the back of two big performances. First away at Newcastle and then home to Valencia as we qualified for the next round of the Champions League as group winners. For Man City it's been a tough week on them in the Champions League. Somehow they went out of the competition and into the Europa League having scored 10 points which is normally enough to qualify for the next round, so they will be looking to bounce back tonight.
If you were a neutral this is one game I believe you are looking forward to. Both sides can really attack, create and score goals and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Chelsea have had their defensive problems and City will be looking to expose them but as we have now dropped our high defensive line, we look alot more comfortable.
No one can deny the start City have made to the League has been fantastic and they really have been impressive from the word go. They have spent plenty of money to put together a squad full of world class players to get them where they are today and are reaping the rewards of it just like Chelsea did back in the day.
Everywhere you look through their midfield and attack they have world class players. The obvious is David Silva who has become on the league's best and should already be well ahead in votes for player of the year.
Up front they have Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli who are all dangerous and will look to expose our defence. I have a feeling that City will go with Dzeko tonight with Silva just in behind with Aguero on the bench.
In Joe Hart they have one of the best goalkeepers in the league but for me is being exposed at times by a defence that isn't up on par with their midfield and attack. I think you can really get at and attack City and the likes of Drogba, Sturridge and Mata will be looking to do exactly that tonight.
Chelsea have David Luiz suspended tonight so expect Ivanovic to move next to JT and Bosingwa to come back into the side at right back. Romeu should continue in the holding role with Ramires and possibly Meireles to continue next to him with Frank Lampard back on the bench tonight.
Up front, expect to see the same three as Valencia and Newcastle especially because of how Didier Drogba played the other night. Drogba to put the frighteners up Kompany and whoever is next to him, Mata to run riot against their right back whoever it is in place of Micah Richards and Danny Sturridge to have another good came up against Clichy.
For me in defence, Man City are there for the taking. If put under real pressure we can overrun their midfield and force them backwards. Without question we need our big players to rise to the occasion again tonight and inspire those all around them.
The game is there for the taking, let's hope we can grab it!
