(VIDEO) BLACKBURN 0-1 CHELSEA: THREE POINTS AND A CLEAN SHEET

Let's be honest here, it wasn't our best performance, but at Blackburn it was never going to be. There were boos at the end from the Ewood Park fans, but you have to hold your hands up and say on another day, they could have had at least a point.

AVB chose to bring Alex back into the starting line up next to JT with Ivanovic moving to right back in place of Bosingwa and for the most part it worked.

So much so, it was Ivanovic moved forward down the right hand side that with the ball out wide right, cut inside his man and crossed with the outside of his right foot and found Lampard eight yards out. As the ball reached Lampard, it was literally a foot off the floor so rather than choose to volley the ball into the net, Lampard, on the floor, met the ball perfect and headed the ball back across goal into the empty corner of the net that turned out to be the winner.

In the first half Chelsea although domination possession again, weren't playing quick enough again and were limited to half chances. Sturridge through the middle, didn't have the effect we thought he would. He went down in the first half after being challenged by Samba but after watching the replay it would have been harsh to have given it.

Second half with Torres on for Malouda and Sturridge brought out wide right, we looked better balanced in my opinion. We were moving the ball forward better and looked threatening but Blackburn were too.

Terry and Alex got into a mess and allowed Yakubu in to turn Terry and shoot for the corner but Cech was out like a flash and push the ball away. From a free kick from Pedersen, Cech rather than catch the ball, pushed it back out straight down the middle of the box to a Blackburn player who with a poor effort, miss-hit his effort on the rebound straight back to Cech who this time cleared. Chelsea were living dangerously.

Blackburn's final chance of the game of note came from a corner. As the ball was swung over, Blackburn won another free header than rebounded off the cross bar and cleared to safety. Today the luck was on our side for once!.

Saying that, Torres had a chance late on. Blackburn pressing forward, passed the ball and hit the Referee, Torres picked up the ball and come forward with it over halfway with Danny Sturridge to his left. Chelsea were two on two here and with the Blackburn defenders backing off to the edge of their box, Torres over hit the pass to Sturridge. Sturridge out wide left 18 yards out picked up the ball and played it back to Ashley Cole who crossed into the box for Torres unmarked at the back post and with Robinson scrambling to get across goal, Torres jumping off the ground volleyed the ball over the bar under pressure from Robinson from 4 yards!.

Arguably, Blackburn had the better clear cut chances, but Chelsea made theirs count. It wasn't our best performance but we come away from Ewood with three points and a clean sheet.

At the end of the day if we were asked what we wanted, the three points would have been enough but we will take the clean sheet as a great bonus too!
