So it's been nearly two weeks since our last game at Blackburn following the international break and the players are back at Cobham preparing for a massive game on Sunday against Liverpool.
For the most part of the season at home we have seen a familiar shape to our play, Ashley Cole and Jose Bosingwa are expected to get forward and support our attack, a holding midfielder with two midfielders either side with licence to get forward and a front three.
I think before Blackburn, we knew our back four would be Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry and Cole but AVB made a change at Ewood by replacing Bosingwa with Alex playing next to JT and Ivanovic moving to right back.
Based on what we have seen so far this season we know Lampard and Ramires would start in front of a holding midfielder which for the most part has been Mikel or Mereiles.
Our front three has remained constant with Mata left, Torres through the middle and Sturridge wide right.
However, we now have to consider if AVB will go with players who were not involved in the international games and didn't have to travel such as Drogba and Bosingwa, Alex also.
The great thing about this season is competition for places and it wouldn't surprise me to see one or two inclusions in the starting eleven that surprise some of us.
So I want to know from you, the Chelsea fan reading this, who YOU THINK should be starting the game against Liverpool and your reasons why.
For me, I would start like this:
Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Meireles, Ramires, Lampard, Mata, Torres and Sturridge.
Ivanovic to continue at right back to try and keep things solid. Luiz to come in for his pace next to JT on the cover and Cole. I would go with Meireles purely and simply for his passing ability to win it and get it forward early. It's a toss up between him and Romeu for me, but the fact it's Liverpool gives Raul the nod. Ramires in for his energy as always and Lampard to get forward. The usual front three including Torres over Drogba. Remember last season, both started and it didn't work. Torres has a point to prove to his old employers so he gets the nod.
What do you think? Do you agree with me or have a different view? Come and post a comment as I would love to hear from as many Chelsea fans as possible today!

I would go for the following lineup in a 4-2-3-1 like the one we played in the 2nd half vs united:
ReplyDeleteCech
Ivanovic. Luiz. Terry. Cole
Ramires-Meireles
Mata. Lampard. Anelka
Torres
SUBS:Hilario,Alex,Sturridge,Romeu,Malouda,Drogba
