There is no doubting a home win is a must tonight for Chelsea. After just a point in Valenica after dominating the game, things aren't exactly as they should be and with Spanish side taking on Leverkusen in the next two games, now is the time for Chelsea to get back on track.
Some people will think this is the easier game, but they are wrong. This is the Champions League and you have to fight for the right to win the game. The problem is, just who will take to the pitch to start the game later tonight and could we see a whole host of changes being made by AVB?
AVB hasn't thought twice about resting players up till now and I don't think tonight will be the same. I think we can safely assume that after being rested for Everton, David Luiz and Raul Meireles will be back in the side, especially with the injury to Ramires ruling him out of this one.
AVB in his press conference spoke about the fact that after tonight, whoever plays would have four days rest ahead of QPR away on Sunday but I really think that we could see as many as five or six changes to the side that started against Everton.
I believe personally, that Fernando Torres will start the game and possibly up front next to Malouda and Anelka. I think Lampard and Mikel will start next to Meireles with Luiz partnering Ivanovic at centre half. Cole and Bosingwa will start the game either side.
If it was me, I would play our best side, but we have to believe AVB when he says that he feels the talent in our squad is "immense". No disrespect to Genk whatsoever, but with this side starting the game you would expect Chelsea to win no problem.
If things go our way, I would like to see the likes of McEachran come on in the second half, and Romeu to give them more game time. I think because of how important the win would be, Mikel would start over Romeu, but the Spaniard will hopefully be given some time.
The simple fact remains, if we are to be considered as a contender for this competition, we should be beating the likes of Genk home and away and if we don't win tonight, the first questions would be asked of AVB.
However, saying that, I can see nothing but a Chelsea win tonight with as it's been recently, plenty of goals!
Chelsea to win by three and Torres to score a couple! Come on Chelsea!
