This afternoon, Chelsea take on Everton at the Bridge and with all the constant focus of late being on the situation with the ground, it's nice to get back to playing football and focusing on the game.
Everton come here unbeaten in their last five league appearances at the Bridge and will be looking to continue their run. David Moyes always sets his side up to give us a hard time and expect nothing different later today.
Chelsea owe Everton for the final day defeat at Goodison that led to the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti within hours of the final whistle. Chelsea were a shadow of themselves that day which was the most disappointing thing of all. We have a score to settle for that day!.
We all know what to expect from Moyes and his side. They will look to keep things tight, fight for every ball and work hard for each other. They will be a danger from set plays and will look to cause us problems with a certain Mr Saha available once more to cause Chelsea problems. We are yet to find out of Tim Cahill has recovered from a knock while away on international duty, if he is out it's a big loss for Moyes. Jack Rodwell is available after having his ridiculous red card against Liverpool thrown away.
Chelsea fans! Why not go and try the Indian Restaurant in Fulham Broadway The MASALA ZONE before or after the game tonight and mention you have seen this advert on Chelseadaft!. The Masala Zone, Real Indian Food!
The problem Everton will have today is this is a very, very different Chelsea side to the one that walked off the pitch at Goodison back in May. This is a motivated, attack minded Chelsea free of their shackles and free to go out and express themselves on that pitch and so far, we have surprised many people with our cavalier approach.
Everton will be aware of the threat we pose and will set up to counter our attack. For me, this is our biggest test so far this season as we are only too aware of how Chelsea can struggle against sides that come here and "park the bus". I mean no disrespect to Everton who would be more than happy to keep a clean sheet and take a point back with them. What I am saying is that Everton are well organised, especially defensively and Chelsea will need to be at their attacking, fluid best if we are to get the right result.
We know Torres is suspended, Essien and Hilario are out and David Luiz could be rested after arriving back only Thursday from international duty. Branislav Ivanovic is expect to start next to JT.
After our fantastic performance against Bolton in our last game (especially in the first half) I am wondering if Ivanovic will be the only change to the starting line up?. For me, I would stick with the same other 10 players and see where it takes us.
Chelsea have to win the midfield battle today, have to dominate the ball, get it out wide or forward quickly and force Everton onto the back foot. However, if Everton are making life difficult for us, it's important we stick behind the side and are patient. Chelsea have more than enough talent to come off the bench and make an impact.
For now, looking at Chelsea, we are on the up once again, confidence is high, players are playing well and playing for each other as just as AVB has said, he wants to see us build on each previous performance.
It might not be a 5-1 like Bolton and at times it might not be pretty as Everton look to mix things up. It's a massive two weeks for Chelsea as we see United facing Liverpool today and City next week. All I want right now is a win to keep the pressure on United.
Can Chelsea take our good form into this one? I hope so!
