Andre Villas Boas confirmed in his press conference yesterday that there are deals offered and on the table for four of our first team players who's contracts are due to expire at the end of this season.
Jose Bosingwa, Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou have all had offers made to them by the club to extend their time here but I am just wondering who would sign an extended deal.
Now I am saying that because I posted already this week about Didier Drogba, I couldn't believe the news and posted yesterday about Kalou, before about the confusion surrounding AVB's comments about Nico Anelka and previously about Jose Bosingwa.
Being honest, I do find the new deals for Anelka and Drogba surprising and that is purely based on the club's previous stance when it comes to players of a certain age and because of cost cutting with the new financial fair play ruling coming into play soon.
Anelka has expressed a desire to finish his career with one final payday with reports of the mega money Russian side making headlines at the moment being interested. Drogba could have his head turned by Bayern Munich would would be prepared to offer him the two year deal he wants where as Chelsea are only prepared to offer a one year deal.
I do expect one of them to almost certainly go at the end of the season and if I was pushed to state who it would be Anelka.
As for Kalou, I said it in my piece yesterday, I can't believe he has been offered a new deal and he should count himself fortunate, pull his finger out and be prepared to work hard to up his game if he is considering signing it!
Jose Bosingwa has surprised me this season with his performances this season going forward like I know alot of you are too. It's just the defending that seems to be an issue. I do think he has made a key and telling contribution to our playing style going forward and there isn't anyone else the same we have available so I fully expect him to sign and stay here for maybe three more seasons.
So Chelsea fans, what's your take on the new contracts offered and who do you think WILL sign them?
