DEJA-VU AS CHELSEA EYE A DECADE FOR THE MANAGER!

Bruce Buck is given an interview quoted on the BBC Sport website and has spoken of AVB's impact at the club and the fact that he could be our manager for the next 10-15 years. He said:

"We do envy Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in terms of longevity, but it shouldn't be longevity for longevity's sake.

It has to be the right guy in the job for 10 or 15 years and, in light of Andre's age, he may well be that guy. Everyone thinks his age might have been a negative but it's a positive.

He has really been able to relate to the players. He is a very organised guy who really understands football.

Now it might just be me but I seem to remember around 2004/5 the Chelsea board came out and said more or less an identical thing about a certain Jose Mourinho and look what happened!. There were reports that he was prepared to sign a 10 year contract at the club but that never came about because he was gone in just over 3 years at the club.

I would prefer it if the club never made statements like this and just let the manager get on with things and to see how we go. AVB has only been here since July and that's just 3 months and there is already ridiculous statements being made which eventually will come to be asked about in his press conferences.

Don't get me wrong, after the start he has made at the club, I would love him to do so as long as we continue down the right road and progress season on season.

Let's just focus on this season first and see how we go!.
