As I sat there on Saturday 3-0 up against Everton everything was going right for us in a game that normally causes us problems. I was enjoying the fact that we had got rid of this six year curse Everton had placed over us and was looking forward to the final whistle when yes you've guessed it, THEY SCORED!!.
I think I said something like "For god sake!" out loud and got a couple of strange looks but the frustration was honest as I cannot understand for the life of me what has happened to our normally good record of keeping clean sheets!.
Our last clean sheet was against Stoke in the League and it really is something that is becoming quite worrying for me, even though Petr Cech seems to think it will all sort itself out soon and clean sheets are just around the corner.
He said:
You can see everybody's concentrating and focused on their jobs, When you concede sometimes, you have to accept that the opponent had a very good chance to score.(Source)
Against Blackpool last year, it was because, at 3-0, everybody just stopped doing what they should and that was why I got angry, But that was not the case this season. It's always better when you finish off the games with a clean sheet.
We had a little unfortunate run without having a clean sheet but we've played well, we keep winning three points, which is the main target. If you finish the game 0-0, you might be happy with a clean sheet but it's only one point. If you win 3-1, you've got three points and it's more important for the team. We are improving all the time and I think that we will get back to our track of getting clean sheets.
We are the team who want to control the game, who want to play well with the ball. We are not waiting for the game to finish. We want to kill the game off and maybe this is the reason maybe why sometimes at the end of the games, when you want to score more goals, something like this happens.
We were a little bit unlucky as well with the little details. We didn't control the little details. That's why we got punished all the time. We are aware of it and we are improving and it's just a moment where it's happening, but I think it's going to stop."
I have to say I don't buy that for a second. A Goalkeeper and his defence take pride in keeping clean sheets and I know that for JT it's just as important. You are telling me that they will accept conceding against Everton on Saturday because they got three points? Never!.
I also have to say that I can't see us keeping a clean sheet in the near future (even though believe me I would love us to!) because of the way we are playing.
Maybe that's something to do with the fact that Bosingwa plays at right back and he isn't the best defender. Maybe because Ivanovic playing at right back and Luiz or Alex playing next to JT would make us more solid? or is is purely down to the fact that we are playing attacking football now?
I really am at a loss to explain why we are conceding the goals we do. I also have to say that Cech is at fault for a couple of them along with Hilario's nightmare against Norwich!.
So we need to come up with a solution to sort this out don't we? Do you agree with Cech that clean sheets are just around the corner? Or, like me, do you think that something needs to change?.
If it was me, like I said, I would stick Ivanovic at right back to start with in games, Luiz next to JT and Cole at left back and see how we go. Luiz and Ivanovic have both been in and out of games this season. Bosingwa has played virtually all of them. Is he the weak link?
So I am asking the Chelsea or football fan reading this right now:
What's your view, why can't Chelsea keep a clean sheet?

A high defensive line (as we have adopted) is always prone to conceding goals on the counter but most the goals conceded are from set pieces. AVB's defensive strategy may be at fault since the defensive personnel are all inherited from Ancelotti's era.
