Gael Kakuta has spoken of his decision to leave Chelsea once again and go out on loan. The Frenchman revealed he turned down another move to Fulham and opted to head up to Bolton instead after speaking to Danny Sturridge. He also revealed the reason he felt he had to move away from Chelsea once again.
He said:
"When you're young you have to be patient because you have big players at Chelsea that have lots of international and club experience. There were about seven or eight players in front of me with experience and that is the reason I came here.(Source)
We will see what the coach Andre Villas-Boas will do, whether he will keep everyone or move some players. But I need to play. I need to get some experience and not play just 20 minutes a week.
Bolton is a great club. I chose to come here because I think it is the right place for me to come to improve. I was supposed to go to Fulham and at the last minute Chelsea told me Bolton were interested.
I asked Daniel how Bolton was and he said the people here were great and I would enjoy it a lot. He said the coach gave him a lot of confidence. If he trusts me and gives me confidence I will be able to do my best.
It will be a great thing for me to go back to Chelsea with more experience as the coach will trust me more at the weekend and I will be more of a first-team player."
This is the problem Chelsea have at the moment. Granted we are thinking about the future by signing younger players to bring the average age of the squad down, but at the same time have offered the likes of Bertrand and Van Aanholt new deals.
The problem lies with what happened last season. As we all know it was the first season in six where we failed to win anything at all and that has added extra pressure on Chelsea and AVB getting things right this term.
So as a result, the likes of Kakuta, Van Aanholt and Betrand will have to get experience elsewhere because they will find themselves down the pecking order at the club this season right or wrong.
If Owen Coyle and Bolton can do what they did for Sturridge then Gael Kakuta will come back here a different, better player and that can only be good for Chelsea in the long run.
Let's hope Kakuta takes the chance he has been given.
