JT: "Write Frank Lampard off at your peril!"

Following on from the Frank Lampard debate I posted on here on Saturday (check it out and get involved), John Terry has lept to the defence of our midfielder. Lamps has come until scrutiny for his performances so far in a Chelsea shirt and as a result lost the start for England against Bulgaria the other night.

Lampard looks set to be recalled for the England v Wales game at Wembley tomorrow and JT has warned people not to write him off. He said:

"Write Frank Lampard off at your peril, I have known him for an awfully long time and he was obviously disappointed about not starting but he trained incredibly hard the day after and certainly will continue to do that.

I have trained with him for a long time now and he is one of the best players I have played with and one of the best professionals I have ever played with as well.

Because of his age people are tending to write him off but he's still in excellent form at Chelsea, [during] last season and he's had a good start this season as well.

His record for England as well has been incredible, the same as his goal ratio.

We're all fighting for places, not just Frank. We all feel the pressure of the younger players fighting for places.

'We are all very proud to wear the England shirt and very fortunate to do so and obviously it's a great mixture we've got at the moment in the squad. But Frank will rise to the occasion and he'll certainly be back in the England shirt very soon.'

I said it the other day in the debate I posted, I really personally believe that the burden of creativity has caused Lampard some problems with Chelsea and England because it's not his game, his game as we all know is being a box to box midfielder and getting on the end of chances rather than creating them.

I really hope Lampard proves the doubters wrong this season
