"Chelsea are a strong team. They are our closest rivals"

I have to admit I have been surprised with the press and media's take on Chelsea this season. Ok we do hear now and again people speaking of Chelsea being strong and have experience but the general consensus of opinion is that we will have a fight to finish third this season.

Surprising to me I have to say but it's nice to hear that Patrice Evra has revealed that despite Man City looking to strengthen their side for this season, he and his United team mates still fear Chelsea and believe WE ARE their main challengers this season for the title.

He said:

"In my mind Manchester United are the best team in the country and then it is Chelsea. City have spent a lot of money but with that comes a pressure and how they will cope with that I do not know. Manchester United's biggest threat is Manchester United.

If we are able to master ourselves and play to our ability through the season we will win the League, that is not arrogance, it is confidence. Chelsea are a strong team with good experienced players, they are our closest rivals. I will not say who the next best team are but the fate of the Premier League is in our own hands.

I won't lie to you, I was impressed by United on Sunday coming back from being 2-0 down to beat City 3-2. Their attacking play caught the eye without question but to me they are still weak defensively and this season, lack the squad depth we have.

In a way, I am glad that the press and media are writing Chelsea off and as you can imagine all the talk will be about the way United played in the second half on Sunday, how they are favourites to retain their title etc etc.

It means there is less pressure on Chelsea to do well this year. AVB is being written off before he has even started and our players are being called "sluggish" in pre season which is a joke in itself.

I can't wait for the season to start. I hope we take maximum points from the first four games and then face United to lay down a marker for the season. Then and only then we will get a realistic view on just where our squad, our players and our manager stand this season.
